Went Offroad for the first time

It wasn't long, and it wasn't too extreme, but I hit some sand, and hit a few mud pits. My buddy went the first time also, and he hit some huge hills that I was a bit afraid to try, so I kept it easy for the first time.

Nice! The first time is always a blast. Good news is it just keeps getting better when you try new trails and branch out a little.

Yep each time you do it you will be more comfortable and more experienced. This will help you enjoy your time more as you take the right lines and navigate obstacles.

Definitely get out and play and you'll get more comfortable... and don't forget that's what skidplates are for... along with carrying mud home!
