outer footman loops keep the windshield from hitting the hood. center one is to tie down the windshield and frame.

Also good for tying crap down that is up on the roll bars front to rear. At least on the CJ/YJ pictured. TJs and JKs dont have those they went to the rubber stops on the outsides.

You should also have one inside the jeep above the windshield in the middle between the soft/hard top and windshield that so you can tie to the middle of the hood when the windshields down but normally the 2 outside pieces are rubber round bumpers.
