what axle is in a....

1979 3/4 ton suburban? it had a 14 bolt rear, and the front looks like it might be a dana 60, but im not sure.

i was offered a running 4x4 suburban with a small block 400/ auto tranny for $600. i said no, just becasue i dont have the money or time to do anything....but, im curious....if its a 60 up front, thatd be a pretty sweet deal.

'90 YJ, ford 8.8, SOA, lincoln front, aussie rear, 4.88s, swampers.

I think the Suburban never came with a D60 front... I could be wrong. You sure it was a 14bolt rear though? I think most came with a 10 or 12bolt.

yeah, you're probably right, i thought id recognize a 60, but it was too big to be a 44.

i could def be wrong on the rear, but it looked like a 14 bolt. im pretty sure it wasnt a 10 bolt. it was 8 lug axles and looked like a 14, but, im no expert for sure.

its really not a big deal since i alreadt passed on it (although i could renig). the main thing was lack of time and funding to swap it all.....if itd even be worth it.....

Take pic of them and I'll let you know.

Some did come with the D60 front and 14bolt rear, but most of them were military trucks.

Worst case is 10bolt front and rear. The rear can be a 12bolt also.

front is probably 10 bolt.

gm also made an odd 14 bolt that was all round and looked like a big 12 bolt they were 9.5in ring gear. where as the more popular 14 bolt had a 10.5 inch gear

most 3/4 tons came with a 14 bolt and either a 10bolt or 44......based on year and the fact that we just took axles from a 79 3/4 ton i would say a 44......highly doubt it is a
d60 unless it was swapped in or was military and even if it was military it would be a stretch.....the small 14 bolt was a semifloat axle with a smaller weaker ring gear and smaller axle shafts
