What did you sell to get your Jeep?

Howdy folks, I was reading a different thread and someone mentioned about a previous car/truck ect you sold to get your Wrangler addiction going... So I thought I'd try and start this off

Liquidated my 2000 Mazda B3000 SE truck and my 1994 Yamaha VMax 600 long track last year to buy my 2001 Jeep TJ. Reason being: rearwheel drive only in winters dont cut it unless you pile on the weight and I almost died on my sled (reason enuff for me).

Labor!!! About 20 hours of house cleaning and maintenance and then a water pump/tune-up and brakes on this guys vehicles so he could move. Asked about the YJ and he said it was going to be salvaged for parts. I told him you got a clean title I will take that. He handed it over signed and saiid you got three dyas to get it out of here the HOA will be towing it in 3 days if it is not gone.

Fresh battery plugs/wires/cap, bled the clutch and away I went. Never looked back

I got rid of both my F-150 pickup truck and my '08 Harley RoadKing...at the same time. Put the bike in the back of the truck, traded both of them in for my Wrangler...seriously, no regrets...I have had several friends with freak out expressions because I got rid of my Harley, but the fact is, I was not riding it because of where I live, way out in the country, down white rock roads...having to wash the bike EVERY time I ride it kinda took the fun out...plus, I had too many terrible drivers try to kill me on the bike in this city. At least now I have a roll cage protecting my ass! LOL

I had nothing to put down on the Rubicon in 2003. But, I sold this POS pickup for $2,500.00 for modifications on the get-go.

A tricked out Samurai...decided a JKUR with AC and satalite radio would be a lot more comfortable way to go 4xing! And it sure is!

I had an '07 Pontiac Solstice GXP [turbo model]. Loved the car. I had it modified to about 330hp and 350tq. It was fast, handled like it was on rails and damn good on gas compared to my Jeep. I just wasn't driving it enough and I would not drive it in the rain or snow. So I traded it for my current 2010 JK.

I traded in my ford ranger, and my vulcan 900 classic to get my first jk. I had a hard time getting back on the bike after flipping a zero turn lawnmower on myself. After having something that weighted almost the exact weight of my motorcycle on top of me and people trying to move it without injuring my, I decided I wanted something I felt safer in while still being able to enjoy the wind in my hair. I test drove a wrangler without a top on it and I knew that it was for me. I'm on my second jk now moving up from a 2 door to a 4 door. I'm a jeeper for life now!

I sold a 2004 mustang and a sweet 1998 Silverado Z71. I was sad about the truck. Had 260,000 on it and still a beast.

1988 Dodge Power Ram 50 (Mitsu Mighty Max) and an 87 Yota, both 4x4.

Bought a storage building, a Jeep, and a steak dinner. Best trade I have made in a long time, and totally worth it.

Wife traded in her 2003 GT Cruiser turbo with 145,000 miles and a broken A/C (that they didn't know about) on a 2013 Sahara in December. She got $3,000 on the trade. Dealer originally offered us $2,000 and eventually raised it to that when I laughed and started to get out of my chair to go somewhere else.

She gets about the same 18 mpg on her Sahara as she did on her Cruiser.

I traded in my 05 Hemi Dodge Magnum. Later I thought maybe should have kept it for the motor to put in a Jeep later.

Traded in my wife's Chevy Traverse for the 2013 JKU and bought a 2009 Altima for her. My relatives and friends think I'm crazy for that. They don't get it...

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get myself into a new JK! Wife has a 2010 Acadia, I'm driving an '04 Infiniti G35 which still runs great (knock on wood).

When I approached my wife about a Wrangler, she laughed at the idea at first, but then said "Fine, but you're not trading in the Infiniti, we will need something that gets better gas mileage." Did I unknowingly marry the best woman ever?!

The catch: 3 kids to eventually put through college, with the first one starting in 3 years...my heart says "Go for it!", my conscience say "Are you crazy?! You have 2 perfectly fine cars, and college costs are just around the corner!"

I hate being a responsible adult!

You can still be a responsible adult and still own a Jeep bub... Maybe your aiming too high for a JK right off the hop if thats not in your budget. I'd say trade in the wife but... just kidding

06 gto for a 08 sky redline. I got tired of making payments year round on some thing I couldn't drive year round and someone slashing the top was the last straw. love the lj rubi, but I miss the vert and the mileage.

Revco -- my apologies, I definitely didn't mean to insinuate that Jeep owners weren't responsible adults!

I was actually intending to bust my own chops; I am one of those types that worries excessively about finances, despite us actually doing fairly well.

Sorry for the unintended slam!

Never even crossed my mind...(well abit hehehe) but no worries friend. I understand where your at somewhat. I gambled when I sold my truck and sled to make up for my jeep. I'm on disability and next to nothing for monthly wages if you can even call it that. So all my assets were pulled into my current jeep. Wasn't for off-roading or mod's, needed a reliable vehicle in all seasons as we get nasty weather all the time. Once my last truck almost failed to get me to the hospital during an emergency one winter season. That was the last straw for me and decided to rid myself of everything and get what I can trust
