This is a thread about what you think would make jeeps perfect or better... Im thinking a fold down tailgate like a pickup truck, good ol HEMI, and dana 60 axles front and rear with a selectable lockers. What do you guys think?

I think I read something about jeep putting a 4cyl turbo D in the wranglers in the future. I would rather a hemi thought imo.

I'm mean they put the cummins in the ram so why not in a wrangler!?? Then you'd never have horse power issues.. Just plug in a Bully Dog programmer... Awesome...

Turbo diesel, tail gate like a CJ but with a latch like a YJ or TJ, interior light, a metel raidiator, a stronger rearend, disc brakes at all four corners, a storage system that make use of unused space, and ditch all the bells and whistles that only make the price tag bigger and dont do shit for offroad mojo!

AEV's J8 Milspec is about perfect, in my opinion. If this could come as an OEM setup at a reasonable price, I'd seriously think about selling my TJ and taking on a car payment.

First off, disown the ugly JKU and that darn mini van motor. Go back to leaf springs, no ac and a bed lined interior. Basically a YJ/CJ would do it for me.

Oh yeah LESS plastic I'm sorry JK guys but they are ugly as sin stock

The van engine isn't all that bad. I've beat the snot out of the 3.8 in my caravan for years and it takes it like a champ. A diesel would be nice to see, or the new 3.6 pentastar engine would be very nice as well in them.

The 3.6 is supposed to be a better overall engine-but still lacks the low end torque like the I6 put out. The wrangler desperately need a diesel. I still don't understand why they can put a diesel in a f***ing Liberty but not in a Wrangler

4 banger diesel, no turbo - simple as possible.
2 seater
No AC, CanBus, bells, whistles, beeps, chimes, farts, or warning lights.
No plastic
Heaver gauge body
Single hoop roll bar
AM radio (OK AM/FM)

Actually I'd be quite happy with a 2012 CJ3, but that ain't gonna happen.

For me what I would like to see in a jeep would be as follows: Turbo diesel such as a small 4 cylinder. Fiberglass tub. d44 front and rear with lockers. as few electronics as possible. Basically a bare bones Rubicon with a few tweaks all offered as a base level jeep to get away from paying for a name.

More torque, hp and mpg. If Ford can do it why can't Chrysler?

Eliminate all the torx bolts, use alloy metals for the tub, fenders and tail gate (one with less iron). I have seen some 12-15 year old Hondas in Chicago with zero rust.

"B" slapping Chrysler/Fiat and letting the jeep folks go back to building jeeps for what they should be. Not soccer vans, not bling mobiles with all the creature comforts and latest electronic gizmos.

Diesel. No electronics other than a radio. Tough and designed for off road. Like the old jeeps.
