So Andy, what size Johnny Joints do you recommend for building a 4 link setup?

Evolution Joints

Are you sitting down?

They're about 3200 for a complete 4 link front and rear.

Me? I am going to run the 1.25" Johnny Joints. They're inexpensive, rebuildable, and strong. I had them on project dookey. I will use them again. Only I'm using aluminum links this time.

Ya, I was poking around Curries website and they have all sorts of sizes and wasn't sure which ones to use. About 40 bucks a pop.

I like to get the JJs with right hand and left hand threads so you can adjust the arms on the vehicle. It is very nice for adjustability. I'm having some 2" 7075 aluminum links drilled and tapped for the 1.25x12tpi JJs.

Ya, that way you don't have to remove the link to adjust them. Where'd you get the reverse thread tap?

Well that is no fun. I'm a "do as much as you possibly can on your own and hire outside help as a last resort" kind of guy.

LOL. I don't know about here but when I was there in Kansas I had access to a lathe on base.

I have to build up my list of contacts all over again at this base.

^^^ would need a whole new belly skid from Nth for it to work on my heep. Mine is stick and 99...one he's selling is for something like 02 and up.

Plus pretty sure I'm going with the claytons system with 5''stretch or maybe the rockkrawler with there old style straight links and 5'' stretch. We'll see. I'm just greedy with my money. And want to be positive it's what I want.

Removed the shittybuilt rear tire carrier, and replaced it with a Rampage one that has lights in the bumper.
Seems like a pretty nice unit, hopefully it won't break like the shittybuilt one did. -Time will tell.

Wired in the lights on the rear bumper and the 500ff hellas on the front bumper. Bought one of those switch panels from 4WD that replace one of the front vents, got all the lights wired in (what a PITA) I don't like wireing.

Going crawling in about an hour. Will try to get pics.

Installed Skid Row engine skid and LCA skids. These things are beefy.

Driver side:

Passenger side:
[IMG][/IMG]
Smooth bolt up to factory t-case skid - reducing "shovel" effect:
[IMG][/IMG]
1/4" Bracket bolts to motor mount by use of an attached adapter:
[IMG][/IMG]
...and to skid:
[IMG][/IMG]

Engine skid also bolts up to passenger side lower control arm mount. All in all a pretty easy job. Took a buddy and I two hours total

Passenger side:

U-bolt - might be the weak link - we'll see - also showing bolt up to LCA mount:

Bolts need to be cut off after install to avoid dragging:

I took it for a drive, cleaned it out a bit, and glued the heater control knob back together.

It's so cool to be owning a jeep again. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning.
