Plans for tomorrow are put on the new bumper caps, remove the carpeting, clean out the tub, finished the muffler install, and just clean her up overall!

New front brakes and serviced the rear ones. Only took 6 years to wear them out.

Applied a bit too much torque to the rear drivers side axle shaft. It made a pretty "pop". I was able to drive it back down and a friend trailered me home. Looks like tomorrow I get a new shaft!

Boy was this a bigger task then I anticipated! Removal was pretty easy for the most part. Had a couple fasteners that did not want to break loose. Installation... well some of the wholes didn't line up... The flares themselves fit like a glove, but some of the wholes just did not line up so I ended up using some self-drilling screws instead of the hardware provided. Also, decided I'm yanking the side step & putting a strip of black diamond plate under the doors to cover up some wear & tear. Over all I am happy with the nice clean new flares!

BEFORE & AFTER...

Got home from the Jimmy Buffet concert at midnight and pulled the trail cover on before it started raining. Woke up the the tap-tap-tap of rain drops this morning.

I put mine back together today probably for the year, when I say together I mean the top on windows zipped in and the doors back on, hard part 2was finding the doors, they got buried in the shed over the summer.

Put the hardtop on in anticipation of the cold weather.

It's too tempting to drop the top even in the cold weather. The problem is fighting to stretch the top/windows when they're cold to get it all buttoned back up!

back in 1989 when i was in the miltary in Africa, a friend of mine had a old land cruiser, 2 door and the back was like barn door, in the back were 2 small bench along the side. it was a cool truck, very capable. the look was kinda like the old defender.
