what is the best performance chip

Just bought a 08 Wrangler unlimited with 3.8 engine.
Has no guts, need a chip but don't want get taken just because I don't know what I should get.
I want more speed on the highway.
After market place in Dallas wants $600.00 for a chip that would be custom to my jeep.
What is the best chip for the money and do I need the upgraded air intake at the same time?
Thanks,
Crown13

The best kind of chip is the one that comes in a bag with "BBQ" on the front. A Cold Air Intake will give you a little woosh sound but that is about it and a chip will just make you feel like the $600 did something when it didn't. I love my Air raid but it is mainly just to look cool to be honest.

It is sad but our Jeeps are big flying bricks on the highway and will never be a speed machine unless you do some serious rebuilding. You will be disappointed on paved roads speed wise but not off road capability which is what it is made for in my opinion. Sorry..

Thanks
My head was about to explode with all the bs claims of the chip reps.
Everything I've read in other posts is they are a waste of money.

New gears such as 4.56's or 4.88's will help off the line but top end and mpg will usually take a hit.
