What Made You

NOt sure if this should be in off topic or not...its about jeeps.

What made you want a jeep. When during your life did you say "yea i wanna jeep..."

Was it a magazine, a tv show, what?

Mine would be when i was younger my dad had a jeep we went to this off road extravaganza thing and we listened to green days DOOKIE the whole way there. When we got there it was awesome there were trucks and jeeps evrywhere. It was awesome i think thats what started me in my love affair wwith jeeps.

but in the begining i wanted a truck as my first car and was looking through craigslist and found the $500 Cj and i said why not!!

Well Iv always liked jeeps, I had been the one looking over at a jeeper in the road and thought to my self "wow they are so lucky, driving without their doors and top."

When I was younger I used to spend time at my grand parents house and they would always have the dukes of hazard on. I loved Daisy dukes golden eagle so much and still do!

Fast forward to now, I was in need of a vehicle badly and odhinn talked me into a jeep. Researched for afew months and finally took a look at craiglist and BAM! Found my dream jeep.

My buddy's dad down the road had a nice YJ that I really liked. Then when it came time for me to start thinking about buying my own car, I wanted a convertible, but I also wanted to get into off-roading. Pretty much sealed what I wanted at that point.

I actually was having electrical problems with my 94 Grand Prix, and found a good deal on a warngler with Low Miles. I lived in FL and thought "a convertible I can drive on the beach sounds nice" and I bought. Then its DNA merged with mine through the seat of my pants and now I have a disease ill never cure.

I was looking for something with no room and very little power to drive on the highway, that would be a little hard to get into, noisy, and rode like a wagon. I didn't want good gas mileage, and I wanted to sink a ton of money into it on a regular basis.

It's everything I hoped for, and more... I love it!!!

Every vehicle I have had was 4-Wheel Drive.

85 Samurai
92 Geo Track
98 Dodge Ram 1500
92 Jeep XJ

When it came to the XJ, my mom wanted one and then my dad wanted another, and my sister got one. Then I had to be different and I got myself a TJ. Simple as that

i've always liked the look of them, but when i was ready to buy my first vehicle, my parents wouldn't let me get anything without abs and airbags, so i ended up with a police interceptor. Now, a few years later, i saved enough to pay for college and a jeep =]

I used to watch Rat Patrol when I was a kid, so I wanted a Jeep. I have some property that I can't afford, and I really can't afford to pave the driveway, so I told my self that buying a 4x4 was cheaper than paving At the time, I couldn't afford a Jeep, so I bought a 4x4 truck and my wife (who didn't think I needed a 4x4) fell in love with it. Then she wrecked her Explorer, and I gave her my truck and viola! TJ in the driveway!

While at basic training at Ft.Jackson my Drill Sgt owned a Jeep Renegade.I thought it was the cutest thing and had to have one...ended up with a Ford Bronco II when I was stationed at Ft.Belvoir due to a kid,a husband and two nephews.

Now they are all grown ass men with their own crap and I have my Jeep Wrangler "woo-hoo!"

October of 1983 I was 6 years old and went with my dad to buy his CJ-7. I'd wanted one ever since. I learned how to drive on a CJ. I learned how to wheel in a CJ. I got stuck in the mud for the first time in a CJ (Then spent 40 buck and all night getting the mud out of it at the car wash so aforementioned dad wouldn't irradicate my ass. ).

Got married at 20 and EX-wife didn't think getting a jeep was a smart idea. Turns out getting a wife when I was 20 wasn't a smart idea. So at 26 I was divorced and I bought the jeep within 3 months.

My inspiration for wanting a Jeep started with a friend that had one while I was in high school. Then, my brother got a CJ7. 3" lift, 33" tires, a 401 V8 under the hood. That put me over the edge! I knew I would have a Jeep someday. Someday happened a little over a couple of years ago!

I will try to keep this short, but it is a long story.
I have always camped, hunted, and fished but never had a 4 wheel drive. I started snow skiing and my 2 wheel drive truck sucked on snowy roads (plus living in Phx. My driving skills in snow sucked also). I bought a 1988 Ford Bronco brand new worked great in the snow and loved hunting out of it. I got involved in SCORE racing with some friends and that lead to lifting the Bronco and 33” tires. Then I got the idea to wheel it and did not know where to go so I joined a club. Shortly after that I installed ARB’s (first set in Arizona). I could go every where the jeeps could go (at that time the trails were like our roads to the trails now) but they made it look easier. I sold the Bronco and a few years later decided I needed a 4 wheel drive again and to be honest the Jeep was the only choice. I have never looked back and will never get rid of my nearly stock YJ.

I didn't think about it as a Jeep, I thought about it as a convertible 4x4 stick shift that had something bigger than a little 4 banger. Ended up being a Jeep

I had a Mustang and use to take it to the track and get bitched at for running it becuase "insurance doens't cover putting it into a wall at the dragstrip."

Now I have a Jeep and the wife is helping me tear it up.

...fun for the family. Everyone is pretty much involved now.

The wife still trys to act like she's not really into it but she want's to get a Rubi next summer.
