Whats a good website?

I have currently been looking for a decent website to order from for all my jeep accessories for my 2000 jeep wrangler sport TJ.

Check out the vendors on here, they usually give you discounts or free shipping or both and they all have nice websites you can check out. Extreme terrain, Morris 4x4 and quadretec come to mind.

I can personally recommend Krawl Off Road. Their website isn't as up to date as say Quadratec but Jason will more than likely beat their prices. And he can get you pretty much anything out there available for a Jeep.

Just know this: Quadratec's shipping is based on how much you spend, NOT weight. So the more you spend, the more they charge, even though your package may only weigh 5 lbs.... If anything, the more you spend, the LESS you should pay in shipping, but Quadratec doesn't care that it inexplicably rips you off.

I use Quadratec for research--total freeloader. Then, I go to sites like Summit to make my purchases because they respect my patronage. Quadratec is a joke, and I'm here to spread the good word.

If you go through google shopping qtec shipping is free.
I don't like that the website does not tell you of something is backordered or not in stock...

IMO Quadratec has the best web site for shopping.....I am lucky as Baseline 4x4 is local to me so I never pay shipping...I shop Quadratec but always BUY somewhere else now..it is cheaper that way!!

Umm...shipping is free for forum members. I found that out AFTER the first time I'd ordered something from them.

After you call and jump through the hoops and sometimes people don't find out it is "out of stock" or "shipping from a vendor" until order is placed.

I like the ability of knowing it shipped the day I ordered it or I can pick it up on the way home from work.

2 Christmass ago I ordered floor mats from Quadratec, on the 15th of Dec, an in stock item, it was a Christmas present for my wife's JK. When they had not shipped in 3 days I sent an email, was informed that it was "out of their control" ships from manufacture.

I than told them to cancel the order as it would not be here in time for Christmas. They ignored that and than told me they would have it sent out, "over night" at their cost and I would have them the next day. However they delivered them to my work (or tried) it was closed.

But they also told me that it was outside of their control to begin with? When the delivery did come I after Christmas I refused as it was late and I had already cancelled the order before they were shipped and had email verification of that.

They still charged my Credit card but did refund when they got the floor mats back.

My issues with them:

1. Parts not in stock
2. To costly for shipping unless you jump through their hoops.
3. Failure to be responsible and ship in a timely fashion, dishonest about what they can control, and failure to follow instructions.

I had purchased several things from the big Q in the past (bumpers, tops, speakers, seat covers, lights) but never again.

I don't wanna chase my tail to save a buck...I will just buy local. After looking at things on the Net to see what is available.

Then you'll also be paying sales tax if you buy it locally. Many of us here are quite satisfied with Quadratec's selection, free shipping and fast delivery and we'll continue buying from them. YMMV.

The selection can be had anywhere...unless you are buying one of the Q's tops or winch (not for me).....glad you are satisfied them...I prefer to support my local Jeepers....and as far as the sales tax the laws are changing..at least in Indiana ..... sales tax is s'posed to be collected even for out of state sales.

Yeah I think supporting local Jeep people I know and wheel with, is better than the service and high prices I dealt with in the past from the big Q!

Good Luck with that!!

Craiglist is how you avoid sales tax. Well, unless you hate those pesky red trucks with water hoses and modified buses with medicine and a bed.

You shouldn't have to jump through hoops for purchases. If they want to profit off of shipping, fine - most companies do. They scam money from it, though.

I find plenty of gizmos on Amazon, believe it or not. Usually free shipping and a company that will back it up.
So many out there, I also try to find local sources to keep my neighbors employed and our local economy strong. You should too.

Unless the local business is run by a relative of mine I buy from whoever gives me the lowest total price, mail order or not. A local merchant isn't paying my mortgage and I'm not going to overspend just to buy something from someone locally who usually has a higher price and less selection than somewhere such as Quadratec.

As you can see, there is no one website that Jeepers are loyal to. If you want a part, read up, do the research on the forums, then do the research on the best deals. The vendor section is a great place to start for checking out who all the major retailers are. I would also make a couple of calls to your local stores and see how they compare. I got a lift kit locally and it was cheaper than the MSRP even after taxes.

The best way to get deals is to hunt them down.

Good points:

Local merchants do not pay our bills, so we owe them nothing.

Quadratec's shady method of telling you the item is backordered AFTER you make the purchase is deplorable... Plus, their ****stomer service reps are jerky on the phone.

It's not a matter of owing anyone anything. I would rather my neighbor be educated and employed than ignorant and hungry, even at a slightly higher cost of goods, because the macro-economic effect of buying on price leads to juggernaughts like Walmart at the expense of mom & pops like Rogers Five and Dime. This is a slippery slope.

To each his own - send your jellybeans where ever you want to. I like having a full jar in my neighborhood.
