Whats Going On?Need Some Advise please!

O.k just put a alternator on everything smooth,now taking off the starter everything smooth.The install dont seem to smooth,I can't get the starter to set flush to the housing and it dont sound right.Iv'e had it off 3 times now and still not flush any advise would be great!

Different starter? You might wanna make sure they both match. Ive run into wrong starter for application a few times with Jeeps.

Just a guess, but check for any spacers or washers you may have forgotten to put back in place.

You also might turn the gear on the starter (if you can), you may not be getting the teeth meshed together but rather the ends of the cogs are hitting and keeping you from a flush mount.

If it is an manual tranny, you can put it in 4th and rock the jeep back and fourth a little, and this should move the fly wheel and maybe allow for the flush mount, if cogs are not meshed.

I don't know what engine you're talking about, but-

I've had that trouble with Big block chrysler starters and somtimes you have to jiggle the ass end of the starter-to get the starter gear housing-past the flywheel teeth-then it just snuggles right in place-

If that don't work--cain't hepya !!

cable isnt inadvertently routed between the starter and the block ???
