Whats the Best technique for shifting?

This is my first manual transmission vehicle and I'm only 21. I currently drive a 14 jeep wrangler saharah unlimited with the 3.6L.
Usually when I shift into 4th, I'll hear the gears like they are scratching.
I also shift before 2,500 RPM.
Not really sure what other information is needed but just help me out. I don't need to add on to my student loans a brand new transmission anytime soon.

Not sure what "scratching" means re the transmission.

I'd recommend just not being in a hurry when shifting the JK transmission. I like mine, but it's no sports car transmission! Easy, and deliberate shifting seems to work well.

Don't know if that helped anything. Likely you'll get better at it with practice. My sons did, but it took a while...

Me on the other hand I was "perfect" when I learned to drive a manual 40+ years ago... Right....

Regards, CW

You are most likely hearing a little gear grind. I would 1st make sure you are pushing the clutch all the way in. And as Cascade said, slow your shifts down. Take it from 3rd to 4th nice and easy. I don't have any experience with the JK trans, but they are more of a truck trans than a car trans. Slow shifts will extend the life of the synchros.
