What's wrong???

I just put 1 3/4 spacers on my jeep with 31's. Me and my dad traded vehicless today so he could take mine to get aligned while I'm at school today. I just got a text frm my mom saying my dad says it's screwed uP and it's gonna be $500 to repair and shouldn't be Drivin untill it is done. What could have gone wrong with this???

Just got a reply from my dad. Said the trac bar isn't long enough which doesn't seem right for just a small lift

Where did you have it taken a jeep dealer ?????
$500 for anything related to a BB is BS IMO

Is it pulling to one side or another?
Need more info...

Ask dad to drive it home, and post up a thread in the California section. You can align it yourself in about 15 minutes. There are tons of Jeep gurus in San Diego, I'm sure one of them will be willing to help out a new Jeeper..... Toe in is the only thing adjustable on the front of the Jeep, Iirc...

I took it to get it aligned though and they said it needs more than that. They said it needs the trac bars adjusted. I want to get front and rear adjustable because eventually I'm adding a suspension lift. How hard is it to do the trac bars? I dd the bb no prob.... Just don't want to pay to have them done

Trac bars are simple.. though the rear bolts can be a pita to get free and then back in. Take some measurements down on the relationship between the axle to the frame etc before you remove them.. then use that as a guide for the new ones, adjust as need to get axles alignment correct then do steering.

Need an "I'm with stupid" smiley.

Or I guess a "QFE".

Now I'm just filling up space.

Maybe I missed it, but what did the shop say the problem was that they wanted 500-800 bucks to fix it. Usually the adjustable track bars are needed to center the axle after lifting it, but I've rarely heard of folks with 2" lifts needing that . . . I know I didn't when I had mine. Have you measured to see how far the axles are off center? Really curious to hear what the shop said as this doesn't make sense, except when you consider that most shops don't know what the hell they are doing when a lifted Jeep pulls in. I have a RE trackbar in the rear of my Jeep and it's worked fine for a couple of years now . . . had to replace one bushing in that time, so no complaints.

I'm with Schmo on that. Mine shifted about an inch when I had my 2" bb installed, it doesn't hurt a thing. I never would have noticed if I hadn't learned here that it was likely to happen, so then I looked for it.

And MCC, please enlighten me wth is "QFE"?

QFE - Quoted for Emphasis

And like the others said... that small of a lift will cause the tracbars to be noticeably shifted, but it won't affect its driveability. You can buy adjustable tracbars if you're that concerned about it...but yeah, listen to these folks. All you need to do is set the toe-in properly and you're good to go unless you're one of those very rare people who has to drop the t-case due to driveline vibes.

No worries drive it! My front end of the jeep is shifted about a full inch. Wait to do the track bar when you get the money. I do not recommend re-drilling the track bar hole either. My Axle has been shifted for almost a year now. I also wheel the piss out of it. No it is not unsafe either. I am still here
