When things go Jeep in the night

Let me set the scene: It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and I had the doors & side panels off and back rolled up. I drove home with the wind blowing and the sun on my face looking forward to a breezy ride in to work the next morning.I checked my phone for the forecast and only a 30% chance for scattered showers in my area. So I should be good plus not a cloud in the sky so I left the Jeep wide open. The better half and I head off to bed later that evening and all is clear.....

Then boom the thunder claps and the bottom falls out of the sky and rain pours from the heavens. I lay there pondering if there is still a chance to make a difference. Its at this point the wife sits straight up and bed and says " baby where are your Jeep panels its raining like crazy?" So after falling in love with her all over again we head to the shed to get my doors and panels. We make good time getting everything put back on and popping the floor plugs ( love my rhynolined tub ). So one warm shower later and back into bed at 2:00 am my Jeep showed me two cool things first my wife is the best woman a Jeep guy could ever find and second stories like this are a Jeep thing and most people won't understand. And lessoned learned if its 30% chance of rain I prefer 10 minutes of taking doors and panels off the next morning over put them on at 2 am in a down pour.

That's a cool story. One other thing that you may take away from this experience is that one should NEVER trust the weatherman.

Wow that sucks but its still a good story. I've always wondered what your seats are like after that lol. Atleast you had the bedliner. Yesterday I was going to leave mine open without the top or doors. Right before sundown I checked the weather "tonight: showers, tomorrow: heavy thunderstorms". I thought NOPE and put back on the door surrounds, doors, and top in record time.

I had a similar thing happen. Only with a 10-20% chance of rain. My dad and my cut off for rain is 30% because or random storms like yours.

I can't hardly get my wife near my jeep, much less get her out of bed in the middle of the night to help put the top back on. Keep your wife!!!

Nothing like having a clean garage to put your topless jeep in when it rains.

Cool story! I loved it! My hubby has a WRX and I have the Jeep but I am sure he would be out there helping if that was me that happened to! I bought my jeep last week ( 1 week owner) and my top has been down since the night i bought it! If I am to "TRUST" the weather man.. I am set to ride that way until Sunday! I soo hope that they are right!
