Where Can I Find...

Dana 35, C-Clip, 27 Spline, 1541 Hardened Steel (or better) axle shafts, for a '90 YJ 4.2L? I have a "wanted" thread already posted. I can find the stock axle shaft no problem, but not in hardened steel. I am thinking about getting them for my husband for christmas, but i cant find them. where should i start looking? i tried quadratec, ebay and craigslist, but to no avail. is there anywhere else that specializes in them? or do i just not see them listed? i'm beginning to think they don't exist.

They look alright for looking at them over the internets. I don't have any experience with those ones. The last problem I had with my old D35 was the spider gears. What size tires are you planning on running?

EDIT: I would lean towards an 8.8 before I put ANY money into a D35.

i'm not sure i think he's planning on running 35's. he has a 6" soa setup. i'm not sure why he's not upgrading to a D44 or D60. he wants to keep the d35 setup and just upgrade to chromoly.

Ewwy. 35's on a D35. I would say those shafts might hold up better but he might want to go with the Superior Super 35 axles. They are 30 spline. But its very expensive. For much less he could get an 8.8 and lock it. He is aware that the 8.8 is pretty much a stock fit right?

For $75 bucks more than those shafts I got a complete 8.8 from a wrecking yard. I cleaned it out, inspected it, and threw on some new brakes. That's it. Well I had to put on some shock and spring mounts. Instead of having a 7.56" ring gear now I have 8.8" ring gear and 31 spline axles.

when i asked him why he's sticking to his D35 he said "b/c i want to" so once he has his mind set on something for his jeep there is no changing it. so i'm just going to get him what he wants. hell, it's his jeep he can break it however he wants .

LOL. He sounds like me when I get my mind set on something. No matter how dumb the idea is, I'll still do it.

nope. he doesn't want them. he is 100% dead set on the D35 with chromoly shafts. there is no changing his mind, and i'm not even gunna try. he is not an unreasonable person, he just wants his jeep to be a certain way. at least he listens to me when i tell him what i want on my jeep.

Well i would do a super 35 then. I bought a super 35 with arb and alloy usa 30 spline shafts on ebay for like 450 new in the box. Take a look on ebay. A truss would be a good idea too.

thats how my girls dad is.. he has a 3'' body lift on his jeep, my old crappy procomp 3000es shocks, and some other cheap mods here and there..

not to mention he does the stupidest stuff to bre's (my girl) jeep.. like ugly mirror relocation brackets and but @$$ ugly side steps.. yet she keeps beggin him to just get her new shocks and she'd be content.. he likes my old procomp 3000es for some reason so he thinks his daughters jeep is fine with em.. and they suck

he is not trying to go the cheap route. he has a lot of money invested into it already. it is a 90 yj. he upgraded the tranny to the tj 5 speed, hes's got a d300 t-case twin stick, 6" soa conversion, and lots of other stuff. for some reason he just wants to keep the D35.

he'll change it the first real time he goes wheeling.. especially if something snaps

i ran 33s on a d35 offroad once maybe twice.. i didnt try anything too hardcore.. as soon as i dropped in the d44 i had NO worries.. last time i went offroading i took my jeep up stuff i wouldnt of never dared to dream about doing... until i upgraded the drivetrain

I'll just throw this out there.... I snapped mine shifting from second to 3rd in town on 35's. I wasn't trying anything cute. I just let the clutch out a little too quick and the engine was around 2000-2500 rpms. Distortedtj was riding shotgun. We drove home in FWD.
One shaft was bent and the spider gears had take up residence at the bottom of the diff.

Shoot you guys swap jeep parts for presents?!?!?!? My wife doesn't know the first thing about a jeep or a car for that matter. I never get jeep parts for presents. She doesn't know what to look for.

there is nothing any one is going to say that will change his mind, trust me. i am perfectly aware of what can happen with a d35 & 35" and so does he. that is just what he wants.

yes, we swap jeep parts for presents. some of the parts i have gotten him: jet chip, when he had his tj, howell throttle body fuel injection kit for the yj, shift knobs, bumpers, etc. he has gotten me: a 1983 CJ7, soft top, lift kit, tires, jet chip, etc. We both love jeeps, and jeeps provide a wealth of gift giving possibilities, seeing as they are never finished.
