Where do I put my gun?

To start, what I'm asking about is 100% legal in FLORIDA. Other states have similar laws pertaining to gun in a vehicle but what I'm posting is FL law.

Check your own state laws before you think about carrying a gun in your vehicle.

Quote:

CHAPTER 790

WEAPONS AND FIREARMS

790.25 Lawful ownership, possession, and use of firearms and other weapons.--

(5) POSSESSION IN PRIVATE CONVEYANCE.--Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the carrying of a concealed firearm or other weapon on the person. This subsection shall be liberally construed in favor of the lawful use, ownership, and possession of firearms and other weapons, including lawful self-defense as provided in s. 776.012.

---

790.001 Definitions.

(17) "Securely encased" means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access.
The above applied to anyone that can legally buy/own a gun.

Now that all of that is out of the way.

Where do I keep this so I can have it readily accessible when I'm driving, sitting at a light, drive up ATM, etc.....

I'd like to mount the snap holster somewhere (under the seat?) and the cloth one I'd just use when I lock it up.

Any suggestions?

Or post pics of your gun in your Jeep.

Shoulder holster.
You didn't need the preamble, this is a fairly gun friendly site.

x2 on the shoulder holster. That way you have it when you exit your vehicle.

I think I got it.

NOTE: THIS IS ONLY LEGAL BECAUSE I HAVE A CCW PERMIT. Non-Permitted people would have to have a snapped holster.

-------------------

I was making this way too complicated.

This was fairly easy.

I just use the slip holster and attach it to the seat back adjuster.

I carry a Glock 30 in my belt. But there's no way to draw it when I'm seated driving. That's why I keep a small gun in the cab for direct emergencies.

For example. .>>>>>>>>>>>WARNING: Very bad language.

No but that's my best option.

I tried putting it just to the right of the E-Brake and a bit under the seat but I didn't like it there.

Unless I open the door there's no way someone looking in the cab could see it.

i have a license to carry a gun with me (itīs hard to get such a license here in germany). but i never heard about a case of car jacking here in my country.

is it that dangerous in your country that you really need a gun in your car?

actually i think about a 4-week holiday with a rented jeep in the US (want to visit some friends in colorado and texas). but if itīs really that dangerous i think i should choose another destination.

It's not bad in most places but I don't work in the greatest part of town and I just like to be prepared.

some places are, some places aren't. Generally, the places where you CANNOT legally carry a firearm are the places that you need one. The point is, our constitution states, in a nut shell, that all citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. Not to mention, most males in this country grow up in a nationwide club that preaches "Be prepared" and some of us actually follow that slogan. I don't leave my house without my folding knife and my surefire flashlight. I wont go to bed unless I know my firearm is clean/loaded, and my girlfriend does the same with hers on her side of the bed. Its mearly a precaution, that some people in this country are very happy to have the privileage of using. With the way our government has been the last decade or two, its also one of those "use it or loose it" rights, it seems.

EDIT: Just read debruins reply. I agree with debruins. I am 23 years old, and I have already been in 2 situations that would have justified at the very least the threat of self defense with a firearm, and 1 other situation that would have clearly justified lethal force self defense had an undercover police officer not been sitting in his personal car outside of a gym next to where I was. I was very fortunate he was there. Anyway, my point is, rural areas and certain parts of cities are not bad, but major cities and non CCW law states can and do get a little dicey in cities and larger suburban areas. Atleast around here anyway. Of course, I do live 20 minutes from the #1 murder rate city in the country. Your not going to get shot at as soon as you get off the plane though. Just mind your business, and try not to piss anyone off if your in an area thats clearly not the nicest around. You will be well aware when you are somewhere you shouldn't be..

speaking of florida Jaxs1stJeep, how do you like it? A friend of mine lived in Jacksonville for 8 years, and is transfering back. I am actually working on trying to get a new job, that will allow my to transfer to Jacksonville. I have heard lots of good things about Florida, especially Jacksonville, and have yet to hear anything bad

Ahhhhhhhhh I like this one.

http://www.tuffyproducts.com/consoles/tj/062.html

For $140, I'll spend that for some piece of mind.

That stock center console is a bit flimsy. I feel like if I give it one good yank I could open it.

One of the major selling points when I bought my jeep was that it had both Tuffy steel glovebox and center console. I live in Columbus, Ohio but in a deteriorating part of the city Security is a bit of an issue, I usually leave doors unlocked so that windows don't get busted.

The only complaint that I have had with my Tuffy's was that I didn't inspect them before I bought them and discovered that my center console was actually one with a subwoofer and that ate up a large portion of the console container. Most people would be happy to have the console but I'd like to have the added space. You could still fit a handgun in it if you wanted, but not too much else.

Tuffy makes great products though and they really enhance the interior of the jeep IMO. I went the two-tone route with a Khaki dash and black lockboxes, it looks sharp.

It's a hell of a lot nicer than IL.

But if you look for a place use these maps that just came fro JAX's crime statistics.

It's not that dangerous, many parts of Europe have much higher violent crime statistics.
Think about something however. Do you carry insurance on your Jeep? how often have you used your insurance?
I've carried insurance on my vehicles for over 18 years now and only made one claim.
Carrying a gun is just like insurance, you may go for years and never need it but if you ever do you'll be very glad to have it.

Sure would have been nice if one of the bystanders had a gun to end this womans torment sooner eh.

why didnt someone just walk up and kick him right in the face? the way he was hunched over it would have laid him out...

Have you tried a clip on holster directly underneath of the steering wheel? When you have the whell tilted up there is a perfect spot to affix a holster. AZ is a carry state also and I have been told by an LEO that mine is not concealed in that location.

The second video... it's a shame that no one took more extreme measures to help that lady.

Or enough balls to drop kick this lunatics head off! They must have taken 10-12 little pansy swipes at him before somebody finally grabbed his hood and pulled him off! All it would have taken was one guy wearing steel toed boots to pretend he was kicking the game winning 45 yard field goal, problem solved! Course, a .45 would have accomplished the same thing, without the need to waste time on a trial or money on housing that piece of trash in prison!
