Hey everyone! First off, my name is Eric and I'm looking to buy a Jeep. I've been reading threads here and there on this forum and I gotta say it's a treasure trove of Jeep knowledge.
Now, I currently live in MA but will most likely be moving up to Manchester NH this summer. I'm looking for a fun weekend Jeep to drive around town and maybe some trails, but nothing crazy.
My budget isn't that great, south of $5k, so I'm looking primarily into JYs and maybe some cheap TJs. From what I've gathered YJs have leaf springs and TJs have coil springs, and this makes a huge difference with on-road characteristics. Otherwise the two models both have i4 and i6 engines, and different rear axles in different years.
My question is. For a fun car that will mostly be driven slowly on roads (I have a Fiesta ST as my fun zippy DD), which Jeep is right for me at my budget? I have some mechanical know-how but won't have many tools or the place to do my own car work. I will be going around test driving some Jeeps in the coming weeks, and hopefully getting a good feel for them!
Thanks!
