Which Soft Top to get? help.

well i ordered some monstaliner, got some offroad lights, got interior, got a pushguard and some more minor stuff. problem is i have a tan soft and hard top. got some money from parts i took out/replaced and i still have a lot more to go but i now have enough to buy a soft top.

i read a popular one is the Bestop Supertop. is this good?

id want it in black with black tinted windows. i want it to go down and up quick. the price for the supertop fromk quadratec is 710 with discount which is what have saved towards a soft top so far. is there a better/ just as good top for less? also ive been thinking of putting a wanted ad on craigslist.

also if someone can provide pictures of soft tops folded down?

thanks.

Sorry no pics of folded softops-am surprised that there are not more responses.. I can only tell you from my experience. I have a factory softtop-which is/was made by Bestop. I can switch everything and go to fully closed to fully open in the amount of time it takes a woman at a rest area on the highway. I do have a "bag" to store the windows in so that they don't get scratched. All that being said----I run a duster deck cover/bikini/and windjammer in the summer time----and a halftop in the winter all are made by Bestop. They are the "best" in the business and the standard other companies are measured by-not saying there are not other good tops or manufactors-but all measured by their standard. Hope this helps.

i also looked at the Supertop NX, is it worth getting or is that more geared towards the TJ owners? its nearly 900 bucks and thats over 300 what id spend for a supertop. thanks

I think you might have been looking at the Supertop WITH 1/2 door windows at that price. The Supertop WITHOUT 1/2 door windows is about $550 from several online suppliers.
The NEW - SOON TO BE RELEASED Supertop NX appears to be the top to get. It's about $50 more than the Supertop for your model Jeep.
It offers the better sailcloth fabric, tinted windows andfold back sun roof.

Supertop® NX complete top with OEM style hardware. Factory style door surrounds, factory style windshield channel, sailcloth fabric, and tinted windows. PLUS, a top arch to support the fabric, quick release bow knuckles for tool-less top removal, and a new adjustable bow mount plate to provide levels of top adjustment.

■Complete top with OEM style hardware
■High grade premium fabric
■High strength steel and OEM composite plastic hardware
■Fold back sunroof feature - standard
■Multiple door kits available
Full soft top kit available for TJD applications
■Two year warranty

Just wondering how you figure $750 for that top? Do you have half doors and need the windows? The yj super top is only $550 from jeep tops and 4wd.

You can get it for 700 shipped from Morris 4x4 Center - I'll PM you the 10% off discount code

Thanks MbRich! ill be buying it from you when the time comes.

now on another note, do you guys prefer tinted windows or not? pros of tinted is that it matches my jeep and looks cool and provides privacy and doesnt show a lot of dirt. but the cons are that itd be hard to see when backing up, especially with sunglasses on when sunny plus if i go with clear, its much easier to see, and also people can see my green military netting over the roll-bar haha. what would you guys choose in my situation?

Well - You won't be getting it from me but from Morris 4x4 - I don't work there

As for tint or no tint - That is truely a personal preference. The 94 YJ has a Supertop. I drove all the time with sunglasses and tinted rear windows. I think it helped keep the heat down somewhat in the jeep when it was parked. I think that they look better with tint, but that is me, and everyone has their own opinion. What really matters is what you like.

As for which top, take note, The Supertop NX uses factory style hardware, which also means that it uses the square upper doors. Not that it matters if you have half doors and are buying door uppers. The regular Supertop has the rounded corner for the upper door (which is what I got because I have factory Full Doors). The seal around my door with the round corner was OK but my door's weather stripping was old and falling apart. If you don't care which type of door you get, then maybe the NX would be for you - I think it might even have the sun rider option built in. I don't think that Morris offers the NX yet, and I'm not positive if other places like Quadratec or 4wd.com are shipping out the YJ Supertop NX yet. I think I would have liked the NX top on my YJ for the sunrider option - But then I would have had to buy different doors.

i think im going to go with a black supertop tinted wih uppers. with the discount code you gave me and shipping costs its gonna be around $680 leaving me with 320 extra cash. whereas the nx is 700 alone, without uppers and without shipping. so by no getting the supposed better NX, ill be spending about 680. just wish i didnt have to spend that much haha. like i stated before, i just want it to be new and not used.

im looking to get 33x12.5x15 wrangler all terrains, and i dont know what im gonna need for that besides a cheap 4" RC Lift so i wanna have 1500 bucks laying around as insurance before i do that conversion so i guess im doing the right thing in buying a softop now. plus, once i sell the extra parts i have ill have another 600-800+ and what i have left over from my top money. i always get nervous about spending a large amount of hard earned $$ as im still in high school. any purchase makes me nervous and doubtful, especially something of this amount. i know i definitly want this but im having money related doubts. can someone give me a few nudges to help it go along easier?

So long as you like what you do - I think a black top with tinted windows will look sharp. I do my mods with total expenses in mind as well. I don't try to be cheap - but I try to save where I can.

In your first post you said you have a tan hardtop and soft top - you could paint the hard top black. Lots of people on here have done that. There might even be a step by step write-up. If you aren't going to use the hard top - you might consider cleaning it ip a bit and selling it on craigslist if it is in decent shape. Could get some extra cash that way too.

Yeah Thad where I put both the Softtop I have and the hardtop I have. I already sold my full doors, 3 piece summer top, and rear seat all of which I don't need. I'm also selling the 2 piece bestop soft doors. So pretty much once I sell all the stuff i dont need I'll get the money that I spend on the new softop back. I would get the hard top black but I like the look of the softop in general so I'd rather go with that.
