Now there is a 93 yj with a 6cyl and 150000 miles on it. Lifted 3-4 inches but on stock tires. Guy wants 4000 for it

Fuel injection is a plus stock tires. Bet that looks funny lol

Gonna look at the 87 tonight and the 93 tomorrow. Only issue with the 93 is that I hate lifted jeeps with stock tires and it blows my budget of 400 and won't be able to afford new ones

If the two are in similar condition, I would go with the 93. The fuel injection is well worth the investment. Keep an eye out on Craigslist for some used 33"s, they shouldn't set you back more than $400. You can always use the stock tires as ammunition to talk the guy down on price.

Went and saw the 87. Wouldnt have given him 2000 for it. So tomorrow I'm looking at the 93. Registration is past due though so I'm nervous about dealing with him. Gonna try to talk him down to 3500 from 4000 but jeeps are so overpriced here. There is also a jeep at a dealership that looks great, but has a hard top and I HATE hardtops and it's a 4cyl

87 yj with 200000 on the clock but a rebuilt engine that runs smooth for somewhere in the 3000 range with straight 6
Or

A 97 tj with 181000 on the clock with a 4 cylinder. Has cracked exhaust manifold and a leak in radiator to the point that it needs to be replaced. Also needs new wheel cylinders in the rear. Estimate for repairs is 1257 and he is asking 2500 but next to that he says make me an offer, all offers considered. So I was thinking of offering 2200 and fixing issues. also has full soft top and cd player
Or
92 yj running but windshield is rusted out and power steering pump is dying. Has 149000 on the clock and he is asking 3000. Has a 4 cylinder engine not running as smooth as the other.
I just "rescued" a 1997 TJ with exactly the same problems! mine has 190k on body but had newer motor. also cracked exhaust manifold along with other problems. it's getting fixed right now and estimated to be $1400. price was similar and otherwise jeep is in good condition. just needs some love and a jeep girl's touch A local 4x4 shop that only deals in jeeps said I made out well on the deal even with the repair bill. I liked the TJ for a few reasons. #1=safety. TJ has airbags and full roll cage. #2=Im partial to TJ since my first wrangler was a TJ. Good luck with either. I eventually will rescue a YJ too. man, jeeps are like chips..cant have just one!

Rusted all over. Rust in the frame and spots all over the body. Then it took a long time to start gauges were out. He was just asking way too much for me to even negotiate with him

Agreed. I'm getting really frustrated with my search. Seems like I'm just a few minutes behind everyone else on viewing the decent jeeps

Well if you can save up after the purchase to fix some of the things it's not so bad, but salt does a number on these babies and well any car really

Yeah understandable. Sorry to hear. People become partial to their jeeps and like to keep them

Yeah I know. I am going through serious regrets selling off my Cherokee right now. My budge just doesnt fit my wants. This island is obviously not the place to be hunting for a jeep. I guess I'm gonna had to find a way to up my budget. Might have to wait until the 15th now if that happens. Unless something perfect shows up in my range.

Going to look at a 97 on 33's today. Has 147000 miles and comes with a set of 31's too. Way things are going for me there has got to be something wrong with it, but I'm praying there isn't!

Finally found one. 97 tj blue but paint is fading no rust that isnt surface on the suspension. 33's drives good and runs good. Cd player going in before I pay for it. Picking it up this weekend. The paint and the best, but I don't care much about the paint
