If you need it then you'll have it. If not it just takes up some room in the Jeep. I don't see why not.

I don't have a winch, but have hooks and tow points at both ends. I carry a tow strap, Hi-Lift jack, shovel, and my come-along. I also don't go wheelin' alone.
I have used the come-along a couple times ... so yeah, I'd say if you have room for it, take it!

I have a cheapie in the back of the Jeep, My Good one needs a couple replacement parts, like the spool with the "dogs" for the ratchet...dogs are bad on mine.
I agree, throw one in if ya have one. They don't weigh much, make sure you have enough cable or chain or whatever to reach something to pull on.

I want to buy one of these soon ! The Wyeth-Scott Co. - portable winches | cable puller | come along winches

That looks like a quality one.
And I agree with everyone else.Better to have it & not need it than not have it & need it

I carry one and surprisingly enough have actually used it. Was wheeling, mud'n and participating in general rowdiness out on the farm, got kinda squirrely and hit a tree. Torqued the left front fender in a bit and the (POS tube) bumper back far enough to create some tire rub. Rather than dragging out towing straps and shackles then hooking to a tree and backing up to pull the bumper back out, I just took come a long, hooked to a buddy's (non POS) bumper and "gently" pulled the bumper back off the tire.

Now, it has a custom appearance. Redneck ingenuity.
