Who has changed rear gate from

Who has changed your rear gate from opening from side to - what do you call it - open and close up and down like a truck's gate?

How do you like it?

Pro's to doing this - Con's?

Ah yes... Forgot the manufacture that does
This.

I wanted to do this mod on my Tj.

Only problem --at the time--was no place for the tire.

A member on one of these jeeps forums had this brilliant idea. He used the factory hinges to make a swing away tire carrier.

The manufacturer was soon to incorporate the tire holder In the kit.

Not sure if they did so.
Maybe someone will know the name or if I remember-I'll post

Rokmen makes one and its pretty awesome. Aluminum, has a storage compartment built in and everything. Its a tad more then swag.

Only was to keep a spare is a tirr carrier.

Of coarse. Either by use a swing away bumper carrier or the factory hinge mod somebody came up with.

I emailed Swag last year. They were supposed to add the hinge mod to the kit.
Was perfect.... The swing away mounted to the factory hinge locations that are really not used. Except for top hinge that utilizes a pin.

i have the swag tailgate conversion. its pretty sweet. its heavy duty for sure but theres no way to keep the stock spare tire carrier u have to get a bumper mounted tire carrier. and its looks sweet but i have an LJ so the longer wheel base makes it harder to reach things in the jeep so that is a big pain in the a$$ but when the tops/windows are off its ok cause i can walk to the side to get it but when the tops on i cant always reach stuff twards the front. and forget about getthing the seat out i have to crawl into the back to get it out by my self or take the top off and have someone help me. and the install was a PAIN. also they coulda used better hinges for the bottom that goes to the tub.
