I would say ahout 1/3 of the people I wheel with and see on the trails we run are in there 40's about half of us in the 30's and the rest are older folks. So I guess the op could have told the person that they were too young to use a jeep for anything but driving around town in since you hardly ever see anyone below 30 runing hard trails.

40?

Dang, I'll be 57 shortly and I don't like living without a Jeep around. I had some sparse years while in the Military with kids and PCS moves. My first CJ was when I was 19. Got orders to England soon after and then it wasn't till the late 90's that I got another. I can only go a few years without a Jeep around. Got into Cherokees for a bit, then a Grand Cherokee that my son now owns.

Right now I'm back to my roots in a JK 2 door that I love. It's "basic" no frill transportation due to it's very very short option list. While it has no creature comforts other than A/C, all the options are what I consider the good parts, like the limited slip and 3.73 gears. Soft Top CHECK, Stick CHECK, NO fancy Keyfob CHECK. I just wanted something plain and simple and that's what I got.

My Children don't see why I needed this, but my Grand Kids agree with me that it's a lot of FUN. I'd rather side with the little one's then to have my kids understand....LOL!

Besides....I've always though that once they swing up into a Wrangler...EVERYBODY is 21.

It's like an all-terrain time-machine.
Amen to that brother!

Been an off-roader most all my life, sand rails and then quads. I'm 57 and this is my second Jeep, 1st was a Liberty and now a JK with big tires and a lift, winch HD bumpers. I hope they turn green. Enjoy what you have while you can because we all know what's coming next. Go out with a smile.

Oh yeah, if your 57 before you start mid life crisis just think what that means, you must be going for 114.

Got my first Jeep last year at age 56.

Actually my first Jeep was a M151 but, that belonged to Uncle Sam.

If the kid had a jeep it was probably bought for him by his over forty year old dad.

I'm 38 (though I admittedly do NOT act it all the time... ) and just bought my first Jeep. I had a 2005 Subaru WRX STi up until last April when it was destroyed by an inattentive dumbass. Had it not been for getting hit, I'd probably still own the STi and not a Jeep.

That being said, I'm pretty sure I'll buy another Jeep after this one as long as I have good luck with it. I'm hardly done with owning fun vehicles. I won't be in a Buick any time soon, that's for sure...

I am 70 and my wife is 69. We just bought our first Jeep- a Rubicon JK in Gecko green pearl. We traded in our MX-5 07 Miata RTHT. You have to have fun and think young. Already been off road twice. Lot of fun.

I have been wheeling off road vehicles since the early 1970s (Land Cruisers). I purchased my first Jeep last year at age 66. My wife and I love to wheel in the Sierras.

Keep in mind the wisdom and understanding of Ronald Reagan when he stated he would not hold his opponent's youth against him. I read somewhere that the Power Information Network said a couple of years ago that the average age of Wrangler owners was early 40's.

48 pushing 49 just pulled the trigger on my 6th Jeep. They have taken me my wife and my kids to places most don't go. I lived in Panama for 4 years and my kids got to see some very unmolested, just like God made it, 4 tier canopy Jungle. Toucans and monkeys, wild everything. Tops of mountains in Idaho, Colorado and Wyoming for awesome views of the real world. 40 TOO OLD? I think not!!!!

Reagan used an old CJ at his California ranch. From the old photos, he looked pretty happy with it.

I am surprised that as soft as kids are these days that they would want a jeep.

I'm not sure that this was taken on the ranch, but its sure hard to disagree with his mods and seat covers.
