I just don't like any hummer GM ever made. They are nothing like a real hummer (H1) and shouldn't carry the name. Other than that I don't find them bad looking if you get rid of all the chrome, but they still have none of the capabilities of a real hummer.
That being said, my buddies wife pulled up to the bbq in her new H2 the other day. Actually decent looking in yellow, but I couldn't resist messing with him a little. "i like your new suburban, it's pretty."
I would get an H1 though if i could afford it, more maintenance than modern jeeps but not near as bad as you think. I used to work on military helo's, H-53, now that is a maintenance PITA. Something like 14 maintenance hour's per flight hour. Plus another hour to fill up the fuel tanks.
Took a 10 man crew like 3 hours to do a wash job for maintenance and lubing up all the moving parts, and greasing the fittings and such afterward. That had to be done every 14 days regardless if it even moved from it's parking spot.
The maintenance on an H1 is nothing compared to aircraft. It has relatively few moving parts by comparison. There is no mountain an H1 can't cross though, just hook it up to an external load sling on an H-53 and fly it on across.
Except maybe Mt. Everest, that's kind of pushing it.
