Why do we Hummer Hunt???

Ok, I'm lost! There is a thread in here which I am sure all of us have seen titled "Hummer Hunting". Its very popular as you are to take pics of Hummers you see around your area as if we are hunting them. So here is my issue with this. First of all, it may be the largest or one of the largest threads on here with hundreds of responses and pics of Hummers. WHY? There are more pics of Hummers maybe on this site than there are of Jeeps. So we all pretty much dislike Hummers yet we go out of our way to take time to take a pic and download it onto a forum. I thought we didnt like these things. I get the premise of it I do, I just cannot figure out why I am going to take time out of my day to post a pic of a Hummer on Jeep website. If anything we should have a thread that is called "Jeep Hunting" and whenever you see a Jeep you take a pic. Share the love of the Jeep around, who knows someone near you may even take a pic of your Jeep and post it here all the while you never knew, how cool would that be? Just my thoughts on the matter, what do you all think?

It's mostly because we like to poke fun at things. Like your avatar.

At first I thought it was stupid, but I have to admit it is fun reading that thread. You need to get in on it while you can. Since they are no longer being produced, they will soon become an endangered species. There could eventually be a catch limit and hunting them could even become banned altogether!

It's not like we eat them or anything, we just hunt them for sport....... If you prefer, I guess we could hunt Prius's, but we'd have to eat them.

I get the premise of it I do, and it is rather funny some of the posts. Though I'd like to see Jeep people taking pics of other Jeeps personally.

since we "hunt" hummers how about we "track" jeeps? that sounds more humane and pleasant, like we are viewing them in their natural habitats and letting them back into the wild, rather than hunting to kill.

Usually there is a shot of a sideview/rearview mirror, or hood or another jeep giving an assist, during a kill

Or a nice side-by-side shot of jeep and hummer

anyway, atleast its only one long thread of hummer kills...among hundreds of other threads on WF that are full of beautiful jeep pics..

I get the point and yes there are many pics of Jeeps, I just dont get why we would take a pic of something we dont like. I'm sure others have seen us taking pics of Hummers and thinking to themselves "they must really want a Hummer". what other conlcusion would one come too. I never knew Jeep people did this so I would think the same. I am a Red Sox fan I hate the Yankees, I dont go around hunting Yankees taking pics. WHY WOULD I DO THAT?

If you took pictures of Yankee fans doing something stupid...oh wait, that would be too easy.

Hmmm...I guess I have to go read that Hummer Hunting thread now. I've been ignoring it so far just based on the subject line since I don't really care for Hummers.

I cant figure all of this hummer hatred out either. Its a tough American 4x4. Why don't y'all bag on the mini van and prius crowd? Not to mention....I have looked through that thread and at some of the jeeps and the profiles of some the "hummer hunters" and all I Can say is that it seems to be a pretty pathetic lot. Some of you need to take a good look at your own vehicles. MOst of y'all look like you stole your jeep from your grandparents with your BONE stock "rigs" with bicycle tires on them!!

31's are respectable IMO. and many people set their Jeep up to do what they need it to do. I for example see light trails (as that's all that I've been able to find locally) and drive it to work. so 35 inch tires, lockers, and a 12 foot lift would be kinda silly. My seats were worn so I added seat covers. My headlights sucked and my brother smashed my OEM fog light so I added new foglights, I didn't want to be stranded due to smashed dif, or bent tie rod so I upgraded those (did this before I found out that there are no rocks here to be crawled)...I don't know if you were referring to me or not, and I don't care. My point is simple, just because someone's mods aren't up to your standards doesn't mean that their Jeep is inferior to yours. (unless of course they added a bunch of chrome.)

And maybe you should redo some research, hummers are not tough. Also the hummer hunting is a joke....its a form of entertainment. bashing on fellow jeepers isn't.

I never would have thought one little picture could cause all this.

How about a "Mall Crawler Hunting" thread. It might be far more amusing to collect pictures of "SUV's" that are set up so as to be basically useless as offroad vehicles. The many Hummers with pencil thick tires, 26" wheels, and tons of chrome are obvious candidates. But Excursions, Denalis, Suburbans, FJ Cruisers, and dare I say it Soccer Mom JK's would also be legitimate targets.
