I've heard buy a Warn if you plan on actually using it and buy something else if you just want something to fill the whole in your bumper. After researching it, I bought a Warn M8000.

I've never seen a car with a winch.. Pics?

WARN is at the top of the mountain as far as winches go, but I have seen smitybilt winches work well in all situations without issue. Everyone I know who has bought one still has it going back to 3yrs ago..
If you can pull off paying out for the warn there is no better option, but If you can't there are alot of other good winches out there

its only a car if you race it.

and warn or go home. I've run some other brands, Bulldog and T-max and i will only run warns form now on the M8000 is almost the perfect winch for a wrangler you will be happy with a Warn for years to come

I bought an M8000 from Streetsideauto.com a couple of months ago for 485.95, free shipping. With Warns $80.00 rebate going on until (I think) July 31st, it might be worth a look.

No idea if it was a sale price, but it seemed a great deal to me.

Of note, Warn has a new VR series of winches that are roughly the same price as the Smittybilt winches. Especially right now while they're doing the $80 rebate. They're mentioned in the new Quadratec summer catalog.

M8000 winches are on sale for nearly the same price as the VR series all over the place right now. Google it and make your move, makes you wonder if the M8000 is about to be discontinued.

I've had the XRC8 for a few years now and love it. JPMAG did a review on a bunch of winches and they said they beat the XRC extra hard compared to the others because it was so cheap, they could not break it. They said they were impressed with it and I know I am. I have yet to use it on myself but have pulled 3/4 ton crew cab bow ties and full size Broncos and everything else all day long without fail! One of my buds is a trail leader at an off road park and uses his XRC8 all day every day and still works great. Point is go with what feels right and you can afford. Most will say Warn but they probly never used a Smittynilt!
