Winch stops working

All right a have a 9.5 warn and after i use it for about ten min or so it stops reeling in, it clicks but won't suck the cabel in.It will run it out,I was thinking sylnoid was bad but not real sure.It does not seem to be getting reall hot on the motor end . This is really starting to bother me any one else every run inot this problem???

Hmmm. My questions are: What battery do you have? What is the capacity/cold cranking amp numbers. How old is it? Do you have the engine running when you are pulling? That winch says it needs a 650 CCA rated battery (and it shouldn't probably be 3+ years old either).

Also, does the winch seem extremely warm when it stops?

Ok i got a red optima batt not sure the specs its mabey a yr old, and ya engine is running.The motor dosent get hot when it stops pulling,but the bar that runs over the winch cable gets warm? mabey there is a relay in there ???

I'd look at which specific red top you have, go to the optima site and look up the specs.

Their site only recommends yellow tops for a 94 YJ (telling me something).

Just out of curiosity, what are you using your winch for having to do 10+ minute pulls?

I was pulling on a stuck jeep (not mine)with another winch we about never got him out !!But any way i called warn today and they said it sounds like the solynoid is going out!!
