I have some personal experience with cheap Chinese winches That is were $300 winches are made lol.

The Harbor Freight winch on my Jeep trailer does not work anymore.
The brand new, series wound, Smitty XRC8 I bought died when it was 2 years old. Both were slow, loud, and the Smitty was hard to free spool.

I ended up buying a used Warn XD9000i off of a friend who sold one of his rigs. It had been working great for many years. It has been working great for more than a year on my Jeep so far.

If you can afford to spend $300 on a winch every couple or three years, go for it.

You will need at least an 8000 pound winch for your Jeep. Anything over 12,000 pound capacity is overkill for a Wrangler.
