windshield mounted lights

So I am getting ready to put some lights on the yj and like the look when you mount a couple on the windshield hinges. My question is when this is done do you get allot of glare off of the hood when the lights are on? Is this a better location then just betting a bar put on the front of the bumper?

The glare on the hood will depend on what lights you choose.
Spot lights will give you glare, long range should not, unless you have them angled down for reason.

The different locations are better for different lights. Long range/spot beams up high, driving/flood beams down low. I have driving lights on my bumper bar and long range lights on my windshield hinges. I barely notice any glare off the hood. Im very happy with the lights in that location.

I've got the dually d2s driving pattern on my pillar using the smittybilt windshield bracket so it's low and to the outside. No glare on my hood.

I agree with the others. If you're mounting lights on the bumper, they are generally for closer range lighting. For instance, your fog lights go here. They have a low wide beam. If you're mounting the lights up high you'll want to go with more of a pencil beam to avoid glare and throw the light to places beyond where the headlights reach.

If you go with something like the KC HiLites Long Range SlimLites you shouldn't have any issues with glare on the hood (I don't) and you'll get plenty of good light that reaches beyond where your headlights end.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like a quote!

LED's usually will not glare as much either. Even a 50" doesn't glare as much as my old pro comps.
