I agree with the others. If you're mounting lights on the bumper, they are generally for closer range lighting. For instance, your fog lights go here. They have a low wide beam. If you're mounting the lights up high you'll want to go with more of a pencil beam to avoid glare and throw the light to places beyond where the headlights reach.
If you go with something like the KC HiLites Long Range SlimLites
you shouldn't have any issues with glare on the hood (I don't) and you'll get plenty of good light that reaches beyond where your headlights end.
