wiring mods and accessories to battery

Warning! Possible noob question!
With every mod requiring external power like fog lamps, LED strips, etc. I never quite got how you "wire them to the battery". Does the battery hit a terminal that has extra ports for mods and such? Or do you literally attach an extra wire to the battery's positive terminal? I'm not too familiar with wiring myself, and haven't even toyed with it yet so i'm completely dumb on this topic. But i have a few mods i want to do that require wiring, so i wanted to start finding a few things out. Thanks!

On every vehicle I've had when I want to add stuff I always install a fuse block. Run one larger wire from the battery to the fuse block, then each item you add you put on the fuse block and add a fuse.

This fuse block is made by bussman and it also gives you a common grounding point in the lower left corner as well.

Thanks! That's the exact response I was looking for!
