Would a sound system in a Jeep Wrangler be worthless ?

Hello everyone I just joined today so dont get upset if this is in the wrong thread.

I am wondering if putting a sound system in a 2003 Jeep Wrangler is worthless ? Will I even be able to hear it ? I heard soft top Wrangler's were quite loud when driving, is this true ?

I havent purchased the Jeep yet because I dont know if a 2003 Jeep Wrangler should cost $12,990 when it has 94,000 miles on it.

Any help would be great, thanks.

I have factory fronts and Factory sound bar, I also have a soft top, I squeezed my JL box with 2 12's in the back and put in my alpine head unit, great sound, but can't use the back seat, I have the seat installed upside down and backwards to cover the box . It depends on whether you wanna spend money on custom boxes or in my case whether or not you wanna remove the box and switch the seat back when ur gunna have more than 2 people

Another option is to google wrangler specific enclosures. If your looking at subs having them in firing downward to the floor of the tub would be your best bet. The sound needs to be able to bounce off of something to make it loud and clear. Being that if you have a soft top or roll around with the top off a lot theres not much for sound to bounce off of. The subs firing downward makes it bounce off the tubs floor and gives some good results. Also if your pumping enough juice makes your floor and seats nice viberating massagers. And the specific enclosure would let you keep your backseat and subs in there at all times but you would sacrifice the little storage you do have.

I have a sound bar but took out the back seats..not much use anyway IMHO sound bar IT IS LOUD FOR ME as the speakers are by your ears, However if you want to impress the neighborhood witha big base sound at 2 in the morning you won't.

I have the stock 7 speaker system in mine and it is very audible with or without the top (ask my neighbors) until you hit about 70 topless on the interstate. If running the soft top you might want to consider what kind of temptation your system will be to potential thiefs.

I replaced the stock soundbar speakers with 6.5" Pioneers and the dash with 4" Focals. I have a Kenwood 4-channel amp under the driver's seat with two channels running the 6.5" soundbars and two are bridged to a 300W JL 10" sub enclosed in the "trunk." The dash speakers are fairly worthless so they are just powered by a Kenwood head unit. It's plenty of sound with our without the top down at 70+ and always leaves my ears ringing.
