wrangler 2010

dear all
i am in process to buy wrangler 2010 4 door however some say it is very rigid for daily usage specially that i drive around 70miles daily .and some say it has some kind of weak engine ....
is that true and if i changed the suspension with OME and installed superchip does the wrangler gets more tangible power and smoother ride ?? ... and if we compare 2010 wrangler with 2006 libirty who wins ...??? your opinion are appreciated

Well, if you are going to be driving it 70 miles a day, be prepared to shell out the money for gas. The Wranglers don't get the best gas mileage. Other than that, test drive both vehicles and see which one best suits your needs.

My '10 JKUR is a daily driver (40 miles total, country roads and highway, mostly). I also drive diesel pickups and CJ5's, and my JK rides like a Cadillac compared to them. The 3.8 engine is just fine. I have the Superchips Flashpaq and I love it (many on this forum love theirs as well). I have the automatic transmission, and would never go back to a manual. So, I would vote for the '10 JK you're looking at; you won't regret it.

My wife and I have owned '03 & 06 Liberty's and currenty have a '10 JKU w/auto. We also have a '00 TJ 6 cyl auto and a '03 Ranger 4X4 4.0 5 sp. auto.

The JKU rides just as well as each Liberty and perhaps even a bit better. Very SUV like and very un-Jeep like.

I drive 150 miles (interstate) round trip to work. When I drive the JKU it pulls 21-22 mpg at 65 mph on cruise with no problems. Around town driving has shown no less than 18+. Although around town driving for us is a fourteen mile jaunt up the interstate to the closest town.

The '03 & '06 Liberty's (each with 6 cyl, auto trans) would get 20-21 on the highway and the plus side of 17 around town.

The JKU has plenty of power for what the average driver should need. The problem I see is the gearing. It will not pull the slightest hill in overdrive with the cruise set without kicking down. Then the engine races to get back to highway speed. If I recall the 2010 is rated at right around 200 hp. The Ranger never kicks down, no matter how long the hill is. It is rated at right around 200 hp as well.

I guess the trade off for the lack of power in overdrive is the superb mileage. The Ranger gets 18+ just about anywhere I drive it.
