For the tj it was an accessory package (fog lights, tow hooks, etc.), toward the end of the run i believe it involved a d44 rear end upgrade.

On the jk, the sport replaced the x...i believe.

Different options such as gearing, tow package, stereo options, etc.

the JK still has both the X and Sport packages.

You sure?

I thought they changed from sport to X and now back to sport. There is no X currently. Not sure what year they went back.

Hmm. I have seen JKs with an X sticker ok the side and some with a SPORT sticker on the side. Unless those were only for certain year JKs?

Correct.

The Tjs later years were X's in 07 the "sport model" Jk was still marked an X
Not sure when they starting using the sport again 08 or 09?

I think they are the same. Sport just sounds better.

I believe there is no difference. JK 07-08 was X and 09 up is now a sport.

Nothing replaced the Tj's 6cyl (4.0)
The Tj lead way to the Jk and the Jk's basic model was still an X until 09 like mentioned earlier- when sport was used again

I was wrong.

Reading this it appears the there was both
an x and a sport starting in 03.

The X was a base model 6cyl

I don't recall the Jk having both though.

Gotta love google

Actually the Sport replaced the X for JK's in 2010. Our '09 X was the last year. The difference between the two for JK's is - marketing, name only.

I have an 07 X. The package includes the audio, tow package, and 44 rear end. I have a buddy with a sport and side by side, the X has more clearance.
