Exclamation YJ or TJ HELP ME!

Ok, so I have come here to get ya'lls input on this matter as I am very "stuck between a rock and a hard place." I currently own 2 Jeeps. 1989 6cyl Wrangler YJ, pretty stock as of now. I joined the military shortly after buying it and wasnt around much to tinker with here. The other is our "family" jeep, 2004 Jeep Liberty. I have owned a 99 TJ.
Ok, so anyway lets get to my problem...I am now out of the Army, and have more time to do some Jeep stuff....But, I am stuck between actually putting quite some cash into the YJ, OR trading the YJ in for a TJ. The ride comfort, the easier soft top are definitely plus's. But, I think the YJ would be beautiful done up since not as many Jeep owners build up YJ's. But, thats my issue. I dont know if I should go ahead and start dropping some money into the YJ, or save the money, get a TJ and build upon the TJ...Please gimme ya'lls opinions. I dont care if your pro TJ/YJ/CJ/XJ whatever, I just need some opinions. Especially if your mechanically inclined and actually know what your talking about.
Thanks in advance guys/gals.

YJ, you won't regret it trust me, I just got mine about a month ago an it was the best decision ever, so much you can potentially do to it

Keep the YJ. Depending on where you live, it's probably past emissions inspections, so you can go crazy with the engine & exhaust mods. YJs are becoming more and more rare, but the aftermarket is still great. Would you rather have just another TJ, or have a unique YJ? I love my rust free 90 YJ!

Well after reading lift kits reviews on this site for yjs I'm a lot more comfortable thinking I'm going to keep the yj. But mine is not rust free. It's just surface rust but I'm going to have to buy a new windshield frame. That's really the only "bad" spot on the whole thing. I'll post a pic of her tomorrow. Looking at dropping quite the cash on her. She's completely stock from 89. The top is worn and ripped to hell, the brake lines look like solid rust lines, the leaf springs make her ride like a damn M1A1... Aka abrams tank lol

Oh she's not a pos at all. She just needs some tlc. She never got any love in her long life. The main parts that are still strong and in good condition are the most important ones and that the work horse straight 6 and the axles and xmission are still in good condition. She's only got 130k miles

I ditched my TJ for my YJ. I've owned CJ-7's, a scrambler, a TJ and I wouldn't want a single one over my YJ. I LOVE IT!

YJ for sure man. I had one as a teen and kicked myself for 5 years after selling it. Got to a point where I could buy another one and was seriously considering a TJ. I found a good enough YJ and couldn't be happier dumping money & time into her. They are after all, the last true wrangler Leaf springs are where it's at, and it's hip to be square

YJ for sure, lots of aftermarket still available and a million ways to mod it for you and what kind of wheeling you want it do!!! Love it and will probably be buried in it.

I've only had my yj for 2 months as of yesterday. And I honestly consider it, as my first jeep, to be one of the best things to happen to me. I love my yj and look forward to sinking every spare penny I make into it. You can do some amazing things with one. I personally like yjs better than tjs. I think they look more bad ass and can be modded much more personally. Around where I live I see a lot of stock tj and jks, but I see some great looking modded yjs. That's just my 0.02

Well after spending 3 days on a custom paint job...I'm tired lol. But, the yj, she Looks great. I scrapped off what rust I could and gave here a quite nice paint job. It really suits me. I'll try and get some pics soon..just remember she is stock.... For now: )

Will be getting a new soft top, soft doors, and half steel doors, with soft glass sliding windows for her this summer. I want to be able to be a lil more comfy during the winter thats why Im getting half steel & sliders. Replacing all the hardware for the top because...well its from 89', it sucks. Will keep updating pics when I get more done on her.

** As you can see on her, the tire flares are black on both sides. How should I do them? Keep them all black, or do black on red/ red on black, or what? Any suggestions?
