Evening folks, it seems the 30 second delay and the avatar change has ruffled some feathers. The delay is something Andy R or Janet will have to check into or work on, but i'm sure it's there for a good reason. The avatar change was debated for a couple of days I think, and it was finally decided that it just didn't fit in with a family forum such as WF. If any of you that are really bothered and upset about the delay or avatar change, then I am sure there are other forums out there that will fit your style and needs. So enough with the fussing and whinning.
enough about the boobies, check out this thread here. New from Lincoln, RI
after posting in a thread i went on to this thread, it took me 2 seconds to read the thread and then i had to wait 28 seconds just to say "welcome". so what is the point of the 30 second delay?
If you must know, it has to do with server load. Refreshing, searching and posting takes up memory and bandwidth, and at any given time there are dozens if not a hundred people doing all of this at once. The delay help minimize the possibility of slow downs or crashes.
The 30 second delay is about spam control. Most mod activity surrounds eradicating spam. There are folks who register and then run scripts to plaster the board with spam. It will load as fast as it can be computer generated unless controlled this way and so we have this limit. WF members are so great about reporting spam and other board issues, that once the first spammy post has been loaded a member almost always reports it instantly. We can remove the spam and smack the spammer before they get a chance to post much more. Thanks for your continued assistance with this and for putting up with the posting limitation.
Consider this: 30 seconds is about how long it takes to get another cold one...
