Leaving Wranglerforum?

I used to love this web site! I'd come in, look through the new forum posts for way longer than I should, but it was easy to see what was new and what I had already looked at... no more it seems.

I come in lately to what appears to be a lot of new forum posts, and as soon as I look at one, all "new" messages change to old and I have no idea what is now new or old.

For example, when I came into this forum section this morning and for several days in a row now, the forum index shows bolded posts indicating new entries, but once I open any of them, they all turn to unbolded posts indicating that they're old. I have not changed my browser, and the problem occurs on all the computers in my home and on no other websites that keep track of site usage. The new message search feature works the same way for me... look at any forum post and they all turn to old.

Sorry administrators, but I wrote the site contact about this issue and got nothing, so I thought I might try a post here before I give up in frustration and go to a web site that works better.

If they are unbolded, I don't think it necessarily means they are old. I think it means there hasn't been any new responses since you last read the thread. At least that's the way I take it to mean. I guess it's a relative thing.

I use the iPhone app about 98% of the time and I have none of the issues you are experiencing. Not sure what the issue is.

Check out your "User CP" section at the top of the page. There is a section called "Thread Display Options"there might be some help there.

It's doing the same thing on mine man! It's not enough to make me quit using the forum but I understand what you are saying.

are you using more than one computer to view the WF? for instance, the browser on your phone, work computer, and home computer? a fix -- you need to log out of each of them.

or when you're opening browsers, and it refreshes... the WF and the forum softward thinks you're still active. that's why the forums are marking as read.

That's not the issue he is explaining. Even in "User CP" it's not always updating if someone comments on a post you are subscribed too. It's petty and in the grand scheme of things, not a big problem, but it is something that used to work that doesn't work as good anymore.

I've had the same issue from time to time in that the recent threads go from bold to not bold the minute I open one. But the recent threads are still in chronological order on the right hand side of the screen. Just take note before you open a new thread and see if they stay in order. Mine always do.

When I browse the forums, I go down the list and open each thread in a new tab. Then I close the page with the list and only read the threads that were relevant to me. No need to check for bolded/unbolded topics.

I've seen the same thing from time to time as well. Just kinda said meh, read what I could tell was new, and tried again the next day. I agree with OP though. It is rather annoying for someone who just wants to quickly browse through scanning for new posts/threads.

For what it's worth, I've been having trouble with wranglerforum for a while. I posted a couple of messages in the trouble forum. Got one or two replies from Helene, but it was never really fixed. Now it's changed to the same problem the OP mentioned.

I access the forum through Safari on my iPad 99.9% of the time. I'm pretty good with computers, and I don't believe this is user error.

Not enough to make me leave the forum, but definitely a minor annoyance. Also didn't like the follow through on my posts in the trouble section.

The issue described could be browser dependent. I use IE and have none of those issues.

Consider it a time saver. They were all the lame posts asking "what's your favorite jeep color?", "will this fit", and "how do I work my doors?". You didn't miss anything.

It happens to me as well. I'm just not that serious of a forum user to care. I access this site from 3 machines, so I just figured the flag get set by switching between them.

Go to your user options and add "subscribe without notification" in the thread tools. Then, when you log on, just click user CP so that you can see all the new updates in the threads you participated in.

The Autoguide app keeps me well updated, subscribed or not-gets annoying sometimes.
I use the WF app most of the time and have 0 issues. Hardly ever use a PC, so I can't help there

Hi Off Pavement, I know I am new here and cannot fix the problem, but what I can tell you is relax, calm down GOOD things come to those who wait. I think the moderators know there is a problem and probably working on it. Just give them some more time.

I have the same problem as OP, but in my subscription list.
Sometimes the threads with new posts just fall off the list.

All the reviews I saw for the app said it stunk, so I never tried it.

Like I said, it's not enough to make me leave, I was just saying the OP wasn't the only one. It would be nice if they'd get it fixed, but I'm willing to deal.
