Parts review forum?

Unless I have completely missed, I noticed there is no parts review forum here. I think it would be a great addition to the site. It would not only cut down on a lot of the repeat posts about parts, but would be a great tool for people new to jeeps and those of us who like to turn our own wrenches.

Just a thought.

This is my first post, new to the wrangler family! I third this mention, it would be great to hear what other jeep-peeps had to say about their purchases

Definantly agree. I love posting reviews. It just helps out other buyers of that product. It would be a great addition. Would be invaluable!

I agree. Education is the key. There is nothing worse than looking forward to "the next part" to find out it is junk after I spent the money.

Sorry, can't agree--

There's a "search" function here also--
OH, you say, it's a PITA to use !!Well, what do you think a parts forum would be also-

Look, we have "lift review" forums, but, everybody wants tobe "TOLD" what is good, not research it themselves--

It's like some forums have FAQ sections--what a waste of time-people want to post and get an answer-not read old data !!

If I'm lyin-I'm diein-

Good luck

i appreciate the consideration, at least. i have been on several boards that had a fantastic parts review forums that were great resources for new and old members.

i have to disagree with you jimbox. from my experience, when there is a specific forum for parts reviews, it greatly cuts down on reposts and people joining just to ask one or two questions. i've been a moderator on a couple other boards, so i've seen the data and trends. as with anything, there's always exceptions. we are fortunate here though to have a very friendly community that for the most part is ok with answering the same questions over and over again. a centralized parts review forum can also be used for people who do want to be told what to buy. it might take a little time to get it up and running, then to get people to actually use it, but really, there's no real good reason to not have one.

I agree with this statement 100% and I have to admit that I have been guilty of doing this in the past too....

Perfect example- Dare I say it without causing a thread hijack... The Jeep Wave

That got it's own sticky and yet it still shows up as a new thread almost every other day or so....

To agree or dissagree, is part of the program-

Here a main example, almost EVERY new jeep owner will post an introduction and in the same post will say--

I've read all over these forums, but I can't find the info I want, so whats the biggest tire I can run on my JK-without a lift"???

We have a lift review--

Right behind that is, "whats the cheapest lift I can put on my "NEW" JK"

I'm sorry, but -to me a parts review forum would be a total waste of time-data-maintenance-personal useless info, somebody would have to form/maintain/correct/update AN INDEX--

If this WF forum starts one, it would have to be for each model jeep and then control it-

You just ain't getting my vote !!

you're entitled to your opinion, but if we don't try it, we'll never know.

If there is a parts review forum would like the poster to include things like where purchased, cost, and where made (US, China, India, etc). In addition to the obvoius like how the part worked out and how easy to install.
