Question on WF search engine

I recently started a thread on "how many jeeps you have owned . . " It was pointed out, politely I may add, that this was a duplicate thread. I did a search on "how many jeeps you have owned" prior to starting the thread, did not find anything. So I went in this morning and redid the search. I found the earlier thread that starts with the exact same words - it was buried on page 3 of the search results. So I did not go in far enough on my original search.

Question . . . shouldn't the earlier thread have come up as the first search result? Any advice on using the search engine (other than looking a little deeper in the search results - I've learned that one) . . .

I have also found some problems with the search function. Sometimes it flat out will not work and other times it is great. My wife who is a computer programmer says that this is a problem with a lot of forums as I guess it is quite complex.

The forum search engine frankly leaves something to be desired. The built in search function is a straight 'keyword' search and often returns less than awesome results.

If your key words appeared more often in that other thread it's likely that it appeared first.

Using the advanced search and including the username of the OP or some other parameters will improve your results a lot. Jeep Wrangler Forum - Search Forums

Sorry but compared to a lot of sites your search function really does suck.

This is true - but it keeps us humble
