Search - no three letter words

Am I the only one that finds it frustrating that three letter words, and abbreviations are ignored by the search engine?

No you are not the only one. I can rarely find what I am looking for with that "tool". I usually get "no matches" to requests that I know there has to be some mention of in this place. The search engine as a whole is infuriating to me.

As is common on almost all forums.
Yea, it's crazy making stuff to be sure!

it drives me mad. I search for OME a lot. and have issues.

recently I've been trying to make my own CO2 tank setup. and have been looking for info. Pirate4x4 has been the most helpful for that. having hell finding a 10lb tank locally though (unless I want to spend 150.00 on just the tank)

I have varying results using Google Advanced Search. It's at least better than no 3 letter search at all. Put your 3 letters in as a word or exact phrase and search within the domain "www.wranglerforum.com".

Google Advanced Search

You can search for a three letter word. Just put an asterisk (*) after the word you're searching.

New to this forum, but not to forums in general. And I have to be honest, this is probably the worst forum I've come across when it comes to using the 'search'. After many many many failed searches (looking for those common newbie questions I'm sure have been addressed many times)...I just started using Google. Usually the first link is this forum with exactly what I'm looking for...

I've run into this problem a few times as well but after a few different words to search for i can usually find it no problem. The one thing i really like about the search is how you can just keep searching without a "this forum requires 60 seconds between searches" such as my R6 forum which pisses me off

at least its not like Jeepforum, where you can't use advanced search without being a paying member

Unfortunately I think the asterisk only works if there is a fourth character. Like a dash/slash or another letter. If its truely just 3 letters don't think the asterisk will help.

You know you can use Google and restrict the search to just this site right? If I wanted to search WranglerForum for the two words "best top" I'd type it like this: best top site:wranglerforum.com

I do that sometimes, because people misspell the company name, and the forum search won't work.

JeepForum used to have the worst search but it's better now.

Here is a custom google search (in signature) that will only search this site. We know the native search is kinda lame and continue to look for better options.... google's pretty hard to top however

Google has problems in that it returns based on relevance and not date. If I do a Google search for "fender flares" and don't pay attention, I might click on really old posts first. I've done that at other sites, and end up answering 3 year old questions.

The real trick is to come here often enough to read everything.
