Two bugs

Two issues I wanted to report. One is a real defect, other is a design issue.

When browsing via ipad, select search, popover search box appears. After the very first character is typed, the box goes away.( does not execute search). Selecting search again, popover box appears with first character, and allows you to type word/phrase and execute. I would guess the issue is in your JavaScript, probably in the load or a loop and related to an index. First time through it bombs after detecting character, but subsequent times it gets through fine. This has occurred since last fall.

Not the end of the world, but I imagine it discourages some searching.

Second issue is reformatting of the page. It seems to have happened recently. When page loads, some of the ads are slow. Typically the upper banner. Because the space area is not defined, the page continues to grow during the load of the ad. This causes a lot of miss touches on links. So for expample, I got to forum index, page seems like it's done loading. I visually scan the forum categories, and move to select Builder Forum, and when I get close to the link, the page shifts because the ad comes in, and I click a random forum, having to back out, wait, reselect. I think if you defined that size up top, it wouldn't grow on that ad load.

Thanks for all you guys do. It's a great forum.

I've noticed this second one when on my desktop. I click the wrong link all the time now. Didn't happen until about the past week or so.

To answer your questions:

Ipad Search - The forum was not built to run on mobile browsers, the scripts do not run well. This is why you're unable to search via the Ipad. The best way to view the forum is to download the AG app

Site slowness - This issue was caused by the Facebook button was causing the script errors. We fixed this issue on 07/08/13 in the evening are you still having an issue?

It still does it for me.

Page loads, but the ads are not spaced well, causing the page to jump 2-3 times up and down before all the ads are loaded.

I took a short video to show how it skips around while loading the pages.

Thanks for the response.

The page jump is still happening for me as well.

On the lack of supporting iPads, I understand you don't have any control over that, so not trying to give you personally a hard time. But I suggest the powers that be consider supporting them soon. I'd switch to another forum before using that thick app. Less than a couple percent of my households browsing occurs on a desktop anymore.

Still jumping around. Hope it's fixed soon.

Everything I've heard about the app is that it stinks. I'm afraid to even try it. Half the options supposedly don't work at all on the app.

What browser are you using to view the forum? Also does the forum automatically just jump downs to the bottom of the page?

Sorry about the delay in responding to you.

Safari

It doesn't jump down, that was me scrolling real quick I think to find something.

The jumping at the top is the forum, not me, though.

It's the banner ad between the USER CP line of links and the Post Reply button that is doing it. It loads last, so the page jumps after everything else has loaded.

Thanks for the search explanation HelenaAG, I use my android tablet and always thought it might be my browser built in. Abit more peace of mind. No other issues tho with tablet browsing on the site
