What Does it Mean When Someone Says "This Thread's Been Hijacked"?

I've seen this a few times and there's even an emoticon for it, but what does it mean?

Is it when somone comes into a thread and asks a question totally unrelated to the original question/comment?

The thread is hijacked from it's original topic.

Yup, it is when someone changes the subject in a thread.

So did anyone see the race at Daytona Saturday night?

If you want a good humourous example of a hijacked thread try this: e92s or BMWs in general - a target? - Page 2 - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com. Read the first three or four then continue at post #33.
