Why so slow at times

There are times when it takes way too long to move around on threads or postings. I don't think it is my computer because it happens on different computers at the office or home. Some times it works great. Is this something that you are aware of. I can go to other forums and they are much faster acting. What is up?

If it happens to be a lot of 1's instead of 0's in the data stream the wires get clogged.

Actually, Social Knowledge that is the provider here also host many other different sites along with this one... chances are that the issue is their internal network and the people on the Early Retirement site

Have you put quarters in the meter??

There are all kinds of reasons for slow downs... sometimes an ad loads slowly and that hangs a page, sometimes there is an internet traffic slow down some where between our server and your desk, sometimes the cyber gods are just undercaffienated. If it's chronic shoot me a Pm and we'll investigate otherwise, view it as an opportunity for a snack break....
It's "Ma'am", thank you.

I will have to keep that in mind the next time one of my members complains of the site being slow!
