Hello, I'm a newbie here and to jeeps! this is my first jeep its a 2008 4 door Rubicon with a 6 speed manual shift trans. I'm noticing a issue with the throttle. Its not so much as lag when you depress the pedal but rather when you release the pedal. The rpm's hang and slowly come down almost like a sticking linkage. it takes about 5 seconds for the rpm to return to idle form about 4-5000! I've cleaned the throttle body per the dealership but it still does the same thing. Is this a programming or hardware issue? I drive semi trucks for a living and this thing shifts slower than a semi does! LOL!!! I imagine if it was an automatic I wouldn't notice as much but being a manual up shifting is a bit jerky unless you wait a few seconds before releasing the clutch. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks, Brent

mods if I posted in the wrong area sorry and feel free to move thank you!

If you are not used to the drive by wire throttle it will feel funny until you get used to it. I have noticed the same slow response on my 08 so some of it is "normal" but your description sounds worse than mine. I have had some luck throttle calibration, it only takes a minute to do.

I copied this from another post.
Throttle calibration can substantially improve throttle responsiveness over "factory standard." Many people notice what appears to be sluggish throttle response or a "dead area" at initial accelerator depression. Throttle calibration can take care of these.
1) Insert ignition key and turn to "ON" (not start).
2) Wait for all idiot lights to go out. Check Engine Light may remain on.
3) Slowly depress the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor.
4) Slowly release the accelerator pedal until it's all the way back up.
5) Turn the ignition key to "OFF".
6) Start the engine.
Most drivers notice an immediate change in throttle response, but depending on your driving style, you may need to repeat this procedure periodically due to the computer's adaptive programming. You likely need to repeat this procedure any time the battery is disconnected.

Thanks for the reply but it revs up fine but it decelerates really slow. I've already tried to recalibrate the throttle still doing the same thing. I don't like taking 3-4 second's to grab the next gear. If I don't wait it lunges forward. The stealer ship wants 2-300 to look at it with no promise that it will be fix. I'm considering buying a tuner but again spending money for a programer that won't fix something that might be mechanically wrong.

I tried pulling the battery's cables. I went as far as doing it before bed. I hooked them back up with fingers crossed but yet no change except for my clock and radio stations were all wrong lol. So I guess I'll just have to try Super chips. No I'm not buying it just because of the throttle issue. I went to Les Schwab to get snow tires for the wife's car and ended up buying a set of 35's from a dealership take off. They're next to new for half the price! My lift will be in around the 9th and then I'll have the tires mounted. So the Super Chips will be more for speedo correction.
