08 Soft top.

Just bought a used soft top from a friend and he doesn't know where the Tailgate bar is (He's moved a few times). So my question is, how necessary is it at this point in time to having the soft top on?
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!

Only you can decide when to put any top on. Wait until he finds it or buy another one.

So does that mean it's pretty necessary?

the tailgate bar just secures the bottom of the rear window to the tub. Without it, you can still zip up the whole rear window, but there will be a gap at the bottom which will let wind and rain in.

I wouldn't run without it honestly. If it rains all of the water will go straight into the Jeep
