1.5 inch coil leveling kit

Hey guys, I made the decision on getting the Teraflex 1.5 coil leveling kit installed in a few days and I'm really excited to finally get rid of that JK rake. But being new to modding my jeep I feel like the guy at the shop is trying to get me to buy new procomp shocks just because. I've read numerous threads that said you don't need new shocks for a leveling kit. With my jeep being stock, I know I may get a little more than advertised on the lift, but is it really worth getting new shocks?

Also, has anyone gotten this kit before and have any opinion on the ride or quality?

You don't need shocks for the leveling kit but if you decide to get new shocks there is a lot better options than ProComp. For instance the Rancho 5000 and 9000XL are in the same class and a much better option. On the budget side, if you don't have a Rubi a set of Rubi takeoffs are also a good choice.

Thanks for the reply, but yea the shop I'm working with is sponsored by Procomp I thing, so the first thing out their mouth will always be procomp. But it seems like most people go with the Rancho than any other brand when it comes to shocks. I think I will stick with the stock shocks because from what I'm seeing it doesn't seem as if I would notice a difference in ride if it's just my DD. Than if I don't like how it turns out I can always upgrade to a better brand like the Ranchos. Thanks man.

The Rancho RS5000X are about the same price as Pro Comps and significantly better...

Thanks for the advice guys. My main goal is to have a DD that I know has been set up in one shot, so that's why I appreciate the technical advise on the shocks. I don't mind doing them now and getting them out of the way but at the same time I don't want to get something new that I will have to upgrade again. Sounds like the Ranchos have a pretty good rating though.
