Gents,
After reading a few various threads about the "10A" and some of the items and components that were supposedly issued with this particular Jeep, I've decided to ask a question or two about it. One of the items mentioned more than a few times are the springs on a 10A. I've not seen any official information at all on the particularity of these springs. But, more than once, it's been stated that the 10A springs are somewhat different than any other JK Rubicon springs, produced either before or after that model.
It's been stated that, if 10A springs are used to replace a stock set of Rubicon springs, be them any part number, on any year or model of Rubi, i.e. the Hard Rock edition too, that a lift of approximately 1.5" will be achieved due to the supposed difference in 10A springs vs the stock Rubi springs.
Well, what I'd like to know is, is this a garanteed result and, if so, does apply in terms of apples for apples as in, using springs from a 10A UNLIMITED to a JKU of any other year? Or, is this some thing like using a set of springs from a 10A Unlimited to a regular two-door JK Rubi, of any other years?
Secondly, in anticipation of an outcome of the positive answers to the 10A springs being somewhat different than any other Rubi, I made a phone call to our local Jeep dealership here in Lake Havasu City AZ and spoke with the parts person about the "10A" springs. Well, when he and tried to investigate this "supposed" difference, he could not find a SPECIFIC spring or, set of springs for that model year. However, he did find approximately 19 different part numbers, for springs that would fit on a 2013 JKU Rubicon.
He stated that, in order for us (he and I) to narrow the field down and maybe, MAYBE, find what I'm looking for, I'd need the last 8, of a VIN of any 10A in order to look up, just what was on that particular vehicle and, see what the numbers are/were.
I said OK, I'd maybe ask on here and see what I could find out. But, before I let him go, I asked him about the potential price of any of the spring part numbers he had for the unit he was looking at. He stated the prices ranged from about $75.00 each to, about $84.00 each.
So, even if it's a gauranty that a certain set of 10A springs WILL provide the "1.5" lift over the stock springs on any JKU Rubi, other than a 10A, I'd be looking at close to $300-$350 or more (including tax) for this potential 1.5" lift.
Now, I know that there's different part numbers for different springs, i.e. 55-60 for rears and 15-20 for the fronts, correct? But, if these "10A" springs are somewhat special, are they stronger or, longer than the top part numbers for each set which, "should" provide for the 1.5" lift even if a later model JKUR came with #19s on the front and, #60s on the back??
Anyway, if anyone's got real proof that there's a real difference in 10A springs and, has part numbers or, either PM me with info regarding a VIN or some other pertinent information regarding the 10A and, it's particular springs. I'd appreciate it.
Scott
