'13 JK stock on/off road wheel question

I just got a new 2013 Wrangler 2door. I don't want to upgrade my actual rubber just yet but I know I wanna stick with 16" rims. I know the stock rims are 7" wide, will the stock 225/75r16 fit 16x8 rims? That's the only size really of aftermarket rims I can find. Thanks!

Congrats on the new Jeep! Post some pics!

You're right, there are a ton more options for 8" Wide Wheels than narrower ones.

If the rubber is still new you may be able to sell the tires and recoup some of the cost of new tires (assuming you wanted bigger/different tires). If you want to stick with the tires you have, you may be able to mount those tires on an 8 inch rim. I would check with a tire shop. Keep in mind that if it is possible to put the 225/75's on an 8" wheel, you won't be able to air down offroad without the strong possibility of losing a bead.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

-Ryan

Yep figured - only trick is I'm stationed UK side so I doubt I'll be able to move them.

However I went to some other websites and they recommended 8" wheels for the same size tires. Suppose I'll just have to find out

my tire guy calls stock 225/75-16's whenpops as it is not a matter of if they will pop but when they will pop.

Well hell.... I won't mind if they pop. If they do - then I suppose it's time for some bigger duratracks

I am running 265/75/16 on my stock wheels no problem and wheel plenty. Not really what you were asking , but just saying you can fit some weird options on the stock steelies and be fine.

I'm in the same boat as you, the local tire shop said it would be fine, now if you trust my local tire shop is another question...

Maybe you got me wrong. I was worried about the width. They're 16x8 rims on the stock 225/75 wheels.

I understand what you are saying you want to put your stock wrangler 225/75-16's on 16x8 rims. I did that with my 2013 jku and they looked like...well let's just say I never left the tire store with them.. I had them mount some 265/75-16 tires. I say if you want to do it go ahead and see what you think. Don't feel bad when little kids stop and point at your jeep and start laughing

bottom line 225 wide tires are too narrow for 8" wide rims.
