18" vs 20"???

Any advantage/disadvantage to running with a 20" wheel as apposed to the oem 18" size on a 2013 JK Unlimited? (besides the obvious loss in sidewall height) When using a 35" tall tire, will the ride stiffness be noticeably more harsh?

Yes, anytime you up size a wheel, you loose sidewall, and some of your ride quality. If you are only going to Mall crawl, and use it on Highway, and can afford the tires, go for the 20s!

For a combination of off, and on Highway usage, 16s, or 17s.......:thumb:

Welcome to the Forum!

Assuming that you are staying on pavement, degraded ride quality and increased potential for sidewalk rash will be the main differences.

If you are driving off road you need to move up to 37"+ or make a U-turn and head downhill to a smaller rim.

20s have no business The lack of side wall kills the ability to air down. At a minimum you want equal amounts of rubber and wheel. If you wanna run 20s. You need to run 40s
So I guess you go around and say that to all the guys who run 33 or 32s on 17s or did you just come in here to bash something

I will say it again if it doesn't fit the norm people bash away but if it does and you say something bad it then you are trolling

I recommend a minimum of even balance. So if you wanna run a 33 I'd recommend a 15-16 but on a 17 its pretty close. 51% of your rotating mass is metal at that point so probably gonna be okay but could be better.

You on the other hand are 55% metal..... not only are you putting an unnecessary amount of force on your ball joints and drive line with ridiculous weight of a 20 37 combo. You are also loosing a ton of extra bite when aired down.

I prefer a setup that is 60% rubber at least. And under 100lbs per corner. But hey I don't know anything.

So a 37 on a 20 would weigh at least 115 Ish.
A 37 on a 17 would be right at the 100lb range.

Which is a lot considering the factory tire is in the 60lb range.

Since this is the tech forum, I would say he received some good answers. If he wanted to know what u check looked better he could post that question in the general forum.
