The link below shows the passenger side tie rod (#11) as one whole piece with the drag link. The tie rod on my Jeep is separate. Did this change at some point? I've been having a hard time order the part I need. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I just went a looked again. The tie rod on the passenger side is separate from the drag link that goes over to the drivers side tie rod. Not how it is shown in the illustration.
I've already replaced the tie rod that goes to the pitman arm and the tie rod that connects to the pitman arm (parts #6 and #8 on the picture.) The tie rod that goes from passenger side to the pitman arm was one piece but not the one that goes from passenger side to drivers side.
So even though the passenger side lower/outer tie rod that's connected to the drag link that goes to the drivers side is threaded with a clamp on it, it is crimped on and not replaceable without ordering the whole drag link?
^^^ Just installed that one over the weekend. I will say the pic above on the passenger side is confusing. It looks like a clamp is over the area where the tie rod end is crimped into the tube.
That's why I'm confused. I haven't taken it off yet to see if the tie rod is removeable, but it is threaded and there is a clamp over where it threads into the link that goes from passenger side to driver side.
Yeah, when I get some time, I may pull it all off to see if I can get parts. I looked at that link you provided earlier for the Crown tie rod and mine looks nothing like that on the passenger side. I also have a neighbor with a JK, guess I may have to crawl under his as well. I wonder if my setup is better or worse than factory? I'm thinking better if I can replace just a small tie rod on passenger side instead of the whole, long link.
I see why we're all confused. Any pic I see is the whole tie rod/tube from passenger side over. Interesting. Mine might be that Crown one you just posted. I think NAPA has the whole thing for a good price and I might go with that. Still trying to tighten up my steering a bit.
