2011 JK Sahara Seedo Question

Guys,

I took off my stock 255 70 18 and got 275 70 18 Duratrac and they look great I'm very happy. I took my Jeep to the dealer for inspection and for them to input the correct tire size into the computer. They said it would only take few minutes and I thought I would save160.00 not having to get the AEV Pro Cal. I was told by the dealer that it would not let them input that size tire for my Jeep.

My question is does the pro cal over ride what the dealer tried? I don't want to blow 160 if it can't be done. I searched the forum and it seems like many are using the pro cal to do this. I'm sure the speedo is not that far off only going up a little to a 33 but would like it to be accurate if possible.

If you also have a 2011 and have done this please let me know. If it worked on a Sport or other model is my issue that I have the Sahara? So confused

Thanks

Joe

The AEV Procal adjusts the speedometer and odometer based on measured tire diameter, not actual tire size. With this being the case, you should have no issues making the adjustment regardless of what tire size you install. It took a little trial and error for mine. I set it for the tire diameter as measured per the instructions and my speedo was still off per GPS. So adjusted another time or two til I was right on the money with my GPS. Then I went a step further and checked my GPS against RADAR. Happy to say that it's very accurate.

I don't have an answer but I'd like to see pictures. I'm debating what tire to run on my 2011 Sahara.

Thanks for the info I'm not sure I will get the pro cal my GPS is telling me that the speedo is not really off. I'll have to run some more tests.

I will post some pics for you it turned out great I'm very happy. I got Duratracs 275 70 18 and the Jeep sits nice however and I knew this going in that the tire will rub the sway bar if you do nothing. I took a chance and got the tires first and they did rub so I got the Teraflex leveling kit it's only 158.99. The Tires no longer rub and Jeep sits nice and looks great. The kit was very easy to install if you have a floor jack and some jack stands.

If you don't want to lift it then you will have to get spacers so it doesn't rub.

Based on the specs listed on tirerack for the duratracs, you should actually be going 63.5 mph at an indicated 60 mph. Of course this would assume that the speedometer was dead on with the factory size tires. Truth is, it is not abnormal for a factory speedometer setting to indicate 1 to 2 mph faster than actual speed. Keep in mind, the faster you drive, the more the speedo is off. At an indicated 100 mph, you would be actually traveling closer to 106 mph
