2012 Wrangler Sport want to tow @ 2200lbs

I have the "tow package" and I know it's rated for 2000lbs. Picking up a Tracker TXW that weighs 2170lbs total, Friday. I mean over by 200lbs damn. Someone make me feel ok about it.

I'm sure you will live...
Just go slow. The issue isn't pulling, it is controlling and braking...especially with the shorter wheelbase of the 2 door.

Everything has a rated safety factor built into it. This is Federally mandated!

Example, you purchase a ladder that is rated at 250 lbs, with the safety factor, it's probably safe at 10 to 20 % over that.

I wouldn't be concerned about being 170 lbs over! Just drive in a safe and cautious manner!

Yea, that's why I am more concerned about being safer, getting older does that some how.

Yes, the government thinking we are all stupid and can't think for ourselves. Tire pressure sensors, seat belts, etc. Personally, I take care of myself and don't need Obozo telling me how to run my life!

Yep, I agree with your post, but we all need to be educated and smart enough to administer our own safety!

And please don't get me started on Obozo..........

After googling and reading all these threads about towing I have cancelled buying the boat Friday and just wait till I buy something with more tow capacity.

Bought it anyway yesterday. Hauled it like a champ. Did some pretty aggressive stopping and no problems. No swaying no pushing the Jeep. Just did a great job.

LOL! Way to go for it man!

I tow my Yamaha Rhino + 2 mini bikes and loads of crap on a heavy duty tandem trailer (with brakes) all over the place with both of our Jeeps. I'm guessing it tops nearly 3000 pounds with everything combined. Both (JKUR & JK Sport) are 2013, lifted 3" and 35" tires, with brake controllers installed. Neither Jeep tows like my old Chevy Tahoe (with the 350 v8) but both do very well and have no problems. Having brakes on the trailer makes stopping a non-issue. Accelerating up highway inclines are the only challenge for the Jeeps' 3.6, which could be overcome with a Diesel or Hemi swap. I love being able to have a Jeep AND all the toys when we go on an adventure.

My opinion: Your Jeep will be fine to tow toys for fun. It's not a daily driver hauler, but a perfect toy hauler for at least 3500 pounds.

You sound like my wife. She wanted me to buy the black boat because the red clashes with the dozer. Women!
